Netflix has just released the first official trailer and a batch of new screenshots for the upcoming interactive horror game, The Conjuring: Unspoken alongside its release date. Here’s everything you need to know before you play the horror game which looks like it’ll feel at home if you loved Until Dawn (such as me!).
With Halloween just around the corner, Netflix is ready to bring the scares straight to your living room. If you’ve ever wanted to star in your own paranormal investigation without the real-life risk of demonic possession, you’re in luck. Next week, Netflix is expanding its growing TV gaming library with The Conjuring: Unspoken, a brand-new interactive narrative game set within the blockbuster Warner Bros. horror universe. The game was officially teased in late September as part of the October New on Netflix newsletter.
The game, made in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (or whatever it’ll be called under Skydance) and Supermassive Games (the studio behind House of Ashes, Directive 8020, Little Hope, and the aforementioned Until Dawn back in 2015, which just had major layoffs), is set to launch exclusively on Netflix on October 13th, 2026, and we’ve just been given our first terrifying look at the gameplay.
First Look: New Trailer & Screenshots
Netflix’s newly dropped trailer and screenshots give us a haunting glimpse at what to expect. The footage reveals the game’s dark, cinematic visuals, featuring our protagonist holding up her ghost-hunting tech in the dimly lit corridors of the historic Red Lion Inn.
We also get a peek at a creepy, weathered ballerina music box—because it wouldn’t be The Conjuring without a haunted toy—and a deeply unsettled young girl from the Cooper family, setting the tone for a gripping, atmospheric nightmare.
What is The Conjuring: Unspoken?
Unlike the mobile games you might be used to playing on the Netflix app, The Conjuring: Unspoken is an interactive paranormal investigation designed to be played right from your couch on your TV, very much akin to the recently released horror game: Unhinged.
In a unique twist, your television serves as the main screen displaying the virtual environment, while your smartphone acts as your controller and your primary ghost-hunting toolkit. As you scour the reportedly haunted Red Lion Inn in England, your phone will transform into tools of the trade: an electromagnetic field (EMF) reader, an infrared camera, and a spirit box. For example, you can look down at your phone to see a thermal overlay of the room, helping you spot cold spots and otherworldly presences that are invisible on your TV screen.
Very much like Netflix’s old interactive specials, the choices you make will shape the story through various dialogue options as you play, meaning your survival—and the survival of those you are trying to help—is entirely in your hands.
What is the story?
You will take on the role of Francesca Noakes, a demonologist called in to investigate the centuries-old Red Lion Inn.
The story kicks off when the grief-stricken Cooper family arrives at the inn, only for things to immediately take a turn for the supernatural. Dolls go missing, the daughter begins hearing her deceased mother’s voice whispering in the dark, and a mysterious ballerina music box starts playing on its own.
Following a failed séance, things escalate quickly. It will be up to you to use your wits (and your smartphone) to free the Coopers from the grip of a grief-feeding demon named Vinea and a ghost straight out of English folklore known as Florrie.
