We’ve now got a more complete picture of what’s coming up on Netflix throughout July 2024 and just added to the lineup is the streaming debut for the 2024 movie Land of Bad headlined by Liam Hemsworth and Russell Crowe.

Set to debut on Netflix in the United States on July 18th, 2024, the movie arrives on the streamer just months after it debuted in theaters in mid-February 2024 and was subsequently released on VOD platforms.

Directed by William Eubank with himself and David Frigerio writing, the R-rated military thriller follows after a Special Forces operation in the Philippines takes a bad turn with a rookie soldier now having to rely on a remote drone from the Air Force to survive in an extremely hostile country.

Hemsworth, who plays Sergeant JJ Kinney, and Crowe, who plays Reaper, aka Captain Eddie Grimm, are the two big draws for the movie. Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, and Milo Ventimiglia also have starring roles.

Of course, Netflix is very much in the Liam Hemsworth business. The actor took over the reins from Henry Cavill and starred as Geralt of Rivia for the final two seasons of Netflix’s flagship series, The Witcher.

Following its initial release, the movie scored relatively well with critics, carrying a 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. From audiences, it holds a 94% rating on that site, while IMDb rates it at 6.5/10.

Mark Jackson for Epoch Times concluded in his review, “Land of Bad is a fine war movie—maybe not on the level of, say, Platoon, but easily in the same ballpark as 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.”

As we’ve reported over the previous few weeks, it has also set the streaming debuts for The Long Game, starring Jay Hernandez and Dennis Quaid, and the documentary Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All.
