Netflix has lifted the lid on what it’s previously dubbed the “most visceral shows” it’s ever produced. Based on the popular video game IP Splinter Cell, the series will premiere on Netflix on October 14th, 2025. A new teaser, new casting, and first looks have been revealed at Anime NYC.
In the works for over five years now, the new animated series for adults has been teased multiple times over the past year with multiple first looks and details unveiled. The synopsis for the series reads, “legendary agent Sam Fisher is drawn back into the field when a wounded young operative seeks out his help.”
The show was among the shows and movies that Netflix previewed earlier this year at the Annecy Film Festival. Netflix executive Dylan Thomas called the series “a true international production.” He says it all begins with “Ubisoft, headquartered here in France, and obviously one of the most storied and iconic video game studios in history. Based in the U.S., we have our incredible head writer, Derek Kolstad, who created the John Wick franchise. And of course, our brilliant, brilliant studios with teams in Copenhagen and Bordeaux.”
Thomas continued, “Sam Fisher is such a legendary character, and our brilliant director, Guillaume Dousse, and co-director, Félicien Colmet-Daage, crafted an immensely cinematic look and painstaking detail. I think this is really one of the most visceral shows we’ve produced in adult animation.”
In early August, Kolstad previewed the upcoming series to Collider, saying, “With Deathwatch, my goal was to honor the legacy of Splinter Cell while pushing the narrative into new, uncharted territory—exploring the psychological and moral challenges that define true heroes. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or stepping into Sam Fisher’s world for the first time, I hope this series offers a gripping adventure and a deeper appreciation for the complexities of modern espionage. If nothing else, though, at least it’s an absolute blast to watch!”
In a new teaser today, presented in person by Kolstad at Anime NYC, we get to see an extended look at what’s coming up in October:
Who is in the voice cast for Splinter Cell: Death Watch?

Liev Schreiber was the first to be announced for the cast playing the iconic role of the grizzly Sam Fisher, but multiple other voices will join him.
Kirby Howell-Baptiste, who recently appeared in the second and final season of The Sandman, will also be leading the cast in a new role in the franchise, Zinnia McKenna.
Confirmed today via the new stills is that Janet Varney (Stan Against Evil, The Legend of Korra) will join the ranks as Anna Grimsdottir, the Technical Operations Officer for Fourth Echelon. Joel Oulette (Trickster, Cascade) will play Thunder.
Finally, let’s jump into all the new stills that have dropped today and over the past few days ahead of the October 2025 launch:
