Spooky season is officially upon us! As we get closer to October, Netflix is gearing up to deliver its annual “Netflix and Chills” lineup. This is a first pass on this article, as we’ll no doubt be getting lots more Halloween-related titles in the weeks to come. Until then, though, here’s a first early look at all the new horror and horror-adjacent titles we know are coming up on Netflix globally and in the US specifically on the licensed side for Halloween 2026.

Netflix Originals
Before we look ahead to what’s coming, let’s take a quick look at what’s already dropped on the service to get you in the Halloween spirit. On the movie front, Netflix has already added the chilling new original features The Last House and The Whisper Man. While on the series side, we’ve seen the excellent Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, the gripping UK-produced psychological thriller Unchosen, and an absolute treat for Hawkins fans with two full seasons of the Stranger Things spin-off, Tales from ’85.
Here is what’s still to come on the global Netflix Originals front:
- Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story (Limited Series) – September 17th: Ryan Murphy’s true-crime anthology series returns, this time tackling the infamous tale of Lizzie Borden. Expect a stylish, bloody, and deeply unsettling deep-dive into one of America’s most notorious historical murders.
- Balaraw: Blood Island (Season 1) – September 24th: This brand new Filipino horror-thriller series promises plenty of scares as dark folklore and deadly secrets collide on a remote, inescapable island.
- Unabomber (2026) – September 25th: A tense, chilling new thriller based on the serial killer.
- Below (Limited Series) – October 8th: Josh Hartnett headlines this highly anticipated new limited series. D

- Haunted Hotel (Season 2) – October 9th: Check back in—if you dare. The adult animated comedy horror series returns for a second season of bump-in-the-night scares and new supernatural entities.
- Is It Cake? Halloween (Season 2) – October 9th: Mikey Day returns to host another spooky, mind-bending season of the hit baking competition. Expect gruesome, gory, and terrifying cakes that will have the judges second-guessing reality.
- The Body (Limited Series) – November 11th
Looking further ahead, starting with movies, Netflix will be releasing The Boy in the Iron Box, produced by Guillermo del Toro and based on his Audible series about a team of mercenaries who crash on a snowy summit, which is only the start of the nightmare. That’s directed by David Prior and wrapped up filming earlier this year, with a planned release in 2027. Elsewhere, Chris Pine is scheduled to headline a new horror called Yeti in 2027. There was also a Netflix adaptation of the Stephen King book Cujo rumored to be in the works, but it’s unclear if that’ll see the light of day. Likewise, Netflix’s long-awaited Bioshock adaptation remains in development.
On the series side, Netflix obviously has a big Scooby-Doo adaptation coming in 2027, which Netflix content head Bela Bajaria recently dubbed “excellent.” That’s in addition to the animated series Ghostbusters: Night Shift and Motel Transylvania (both set to release in 2027). Plus, Midnight Sun, the highly anticipated Twilight animated series, is also in production. Ryan Murphy’s The Watcher is also set for a big comeback after many years of waiting.
Licensed Movies (US)
As always, Netflix US is getting a massive haul of licensed horror movies from other studios to help pad out your Halloween movie marathons. Here is what’s coming to the US library:
- LifeHack (2025) – September 23rd: A recent techno-thriller that will make you look twice at your smart devices. Netflix has the SVOD streaming debut for this.
- Knock at the Cabin (2023) – September 24th: M. Night Shyamalan’s tense, apocalyptic home-invasion thriller starring Dave Bautista and Jonathan Groff.

- Slice (2018) – September 27th: A24’s bizarre and quirky horror-comedy starring Chance the Rapper about a haunted pizza delivery route.
- Daniel Isn’t Real (2019) – September 29th: A visually stunning and deeply unsettling psychological horror about a childhood imaginary friend who returns with malicious intent.
- I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006) – September 30th: The third installment in the classic slasher franchise.
- Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016) – September 30th: Milla Jovovich’s final bow as Alice. This release joins the other collection of Resident Evil movies that joined the US library in early September.
- Lake Placid (1999) – October 1st: The cult-classic creature feature about a giant, man-eating crocodile terrorizing a quiet Maine lake.
- The Sixth Sense (1999) – October 1st: “I see dead people.” Revisit the iconic M. Night Shyamalan masterpiece this Halloween.

- Happy Death 2U (2019) – October 1st: The incredibly fun sci-fi slasher sequel that throws Tree Gelbman right back into a deadly time loop.
- Evil Dead (2013) – October 1st: Fede Álvarez’s unbelievably bloody and terrifying reboot of the Sam Raimi classic. Not for the squeamish!
- Underworld: Blood Wars (2016) – October 1st: Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene in the fifth installment of the vampires vs. lycans action-horror franchise.
- My Child Has My Doctor’s Face (2024) – October 2nd: Lifetime movie with Nathalie Polisson and Daniel O’Reilly about a mother discovering her son’s biological father is her fertility doctor.
- The Boogeyman (2023) – October 6th: Based on the short story by Stephen King, this terrifying creature feature will definitely have you checking your closet before bed.
- Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) – October 6th: The classic Jane Austen tale, but with a whole lot more undead flesh-eaters and sword-wielding heroines.

- Cocaine Bear (2023) – October 14th: Loosely based on a true story, Elizabeth Banks directs this wild, gory horror-comedy about a black bear that goes on a drug-fueled rampage.
Leaving Netflix Soon (US)
Sadly, as with all good things, the Netflix library giveth, and the Netflix library taketh away.
If you’re looking to squeeze in some last-minute scares before they vanish, you’ll want to prioritize a few horror favorites leaving the US platform very soon. Make sure to catch A24’s modern folk-horror masterpiece The Witch and the holiday-themed terror Krampus before they both depart on October 1st. Other notable spooky departures in early October include the chilling possession flick The Wretched (October 3rd), the hit slasher sequel Scream (2022) (October 8th), the terrifying found-footage double feature of Host and Deadstream (both October 9th), and the post-apocalyptic thriller A Quiet Place Part II (October 11th).
