What’s on Netflix can report that Andrew Liner, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, and Marianly Tejada are set to join Netflix’s upcoming drama series Ransom Canyon, which is currently gearing up for production later this month.

The upcoming series, which has been in development at Netflix since 2021, is a contemporary Western saga that tells the story of three ranching families whose lives intersect in the rugged expanse of Texas Hill Country. The show has been described as a romance-fueled family drama, and it has been compared to Virgin River meets Yellowstone.

After attempting to establish a career as a concert pianist in New York, Quinn has decided to return to Ransom Canyon to pave a new path for herself. Despite pressure to sell the ranch, Cap hires a new foreman, Yancy Grey, and is quick to point out his mistakes. Cap is known for his salty attitude, and only Ellie, a fallen comrade’s daughter, can keep him in check.

The ten-episode series is being created, written, and executive produced by April Blair.

Who is in the cast for Ransom Canyon so far?

JOSH DUHAMEL AND MINKA KELLY

Last month, Netflix announced that Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly would lead the series. Amanda Marsalis is on board to direct the first two episodes.

Duhamel (Transformers, The Lost Husband) has been cast in the role of Staten Kirkland, who is the determined and unemotional owner of the Double K Ranch. On the other hand, Kelly (Euphoria) plays Quinn O’Grady, a lavender farmer who also owns the local Ransom dancehall.

More recently, Deadline announced that James Brolin, Lizzy Green, and Eoin Macken had joined the cast.

Brolin (Sweet Tooth) portrays Cap, a former Army captain with a headstrong personality who owns Fuller Ranch. After his only son dies in Afghanistan, Cap becomes consumed by his work and the occasional drink, causing the once-renowned ranch to fall into disrepair.

Eoin Macken (La Brea) plays the role of Davis Collins, an Ivy-educated owner of the modern Bar W Ranch. Unlike Kirkland, Davis is more interested in making money by utilizing the valuable aquifer beneath Ransom’s ranchland. This isn’t the first issue that has caused tension between the two, as the Kirkland and Collins families have been in a feud for generations. Davis and Staten both have romantic feelings for Quinn O’Grady.

Lizzy Greene (A Million Little Things) has been chosen to play Lauren Brigman. Lauren is the head cheerleader and daughter of the town’s sheriff. She is the girlfriend of the cocky quarterback, Reid Collins, and seems to be leading a happy life. However, all she wants is to leave this small town behind and make it to the cheer team at UT Austin. This desire puts her at odds with her father, who wants her to stay in Ransom.
