After a stellar first half of the year for new anime, the start of the second half is already shaping up for a great start. July will see the highly anticipated Daemons of the Shadow Realm and Sparks of Tomorrow land on Netflix, and we’ll also see the conclusion of the first cour of One Piece: Elbaf Arc. We also expect some licensed anime to be announced soon.

Sparks of Tomorrow (Season 1)

The series is an anime adaptation of Hiro Yūki’s light novel 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku, directed by Minoru Ōta and by produced by Kyoto Animation. 

“In an alternate version of the early 20th century where technological progress evolved along a different path shaped by steam power, Kyoto is blanketed in constant smoke. A boy, hardened by the loss of his brother, grows distrustful after their shared dream of an “Age of Electricity” is cut short. A deeply devout girl hides her dreams and regrets for her deceased mother deep within her heart. When the two cross paths, they set about exploring the secrets of the 20th Century Electrical Catalog, a glimpse into the future they long for. Together, they must confront their pasts and carve a path toward the future they once believed in.”

Daemons of the Shadow Realm (Season 1)

The anime is an adaptation of the manga Yomi no Tsugai by Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of Full Metal Alchemist. The manga debuted in 2021, so fans have been waiting for over 5 years for an anime adaptation. While the series has already been available to stream on Crunchyroll, it will be released worldwide on Netflix in multiple dubs.

Yuru and Asa, twins from an isolated village, were separated by night and day. Older brother Yuru is an animal hunter, while his younger sister Asa has been locked away and ordered to perform a special duty. But when an attack on their village meant to capture Yuru leaves all the adults dead, Yuru and Asa attempt to flee, but in the chaos, Yuru is confronted by a woman claiming to be his true twin sister. Yura is saved by the village outsider Ryuu “Dera” Tadera, and before the pair are captured, Dera makes Yura give a gift to the deity of the village, which results in a pair of daemons summoned to the world, whose existence has been bound to reveal the truth behind the attack on the village.

Akane-Banashi

Netflix Finale Date: August 2, 2026 (end of cour 1)

There are plenty of Akane-Banashi episodes to look forward to on Netflix, as the series has been confirmed to have two cours, totaling 12 episodes. The first cour doesn’t end until August, and the second cour will be released later in the year.

“Growing up, Akane admired her father and his rakugo, a traditional Japanese form of storytelling where a lone performer, called a rakugoka, depicts a long, complicated, and usually funny story involving multiple characters, who are distinguished by changes in pitch, tone, slight turns of the head, and hand movements, all while sitting in place. But when she was in elementary school, her father and all the other applicants were expelled from the Arakawa School during the promotional test to obtain rakugo’s third and highest rank of shin’uchi. Six years later, Akane, who had been secretly receiving lessons from her father’s former master, sets out to become a shin’uchi of the Arakawa School to avenge her father and prove rakugo is a legitimate profession.”


One Piece: Elbaf Arc (Part 1)

One Piece continues to be one of the most popular anime IPs on Netflix, and July will mark the end of the first cour for the Elbaf Arc. With a maximum of 26 episodes being released per year, the second cour will be released later in 2026.

After surviving the assault from the Marines and the Gorosei on Egghead Island, the Straw Hats were rescued by the larger-than-life Giant Pirates! Now on their way to the island of Elbaf, the home of the giants, where new friends and threats emerge as Luffy’s goal of finding the One Piece continues.
