A brand-new anime series is coming to Netflix weekly globally from July 2, Chainsmoker Cat. Here’s everything we know about the anime adaptation of NyanNyanFactory’s Chainsmoker Cat on Netflix.

Chainsmoker Cat is an upcoming Japanese anime series and an adaptation of the Japanese manga Yani Neko by author and illustrator NyanNyanFactory. The series is animated by Biburry Animation Studios and directed by Taku Kimura and Takashi Aoshima.

When is Chainsmoker Cat coming to Netflix?

Chainsmoker Cat will be coming to Netflix globally from July 2, 2026.

At the time of publishing, there was no confirmation that Chainsmoker Cat would be coming to Netflix. However, we reached out to Netflix, which confirmed that the anime will be released as a ” Non-Branded World Wide Non-Exclusive.”

The streaming service will also receive an uncut version of the anime, named “Evil Dragon Liberation Version,” which “respects the directorial intent of the original work.”

“Welcome to Yani’s apartment. Please don’t mind the smell. Yani is a catgirl with a seriously bad smoking habit. Every time she tries to quit, she becomes weak to the cravings and gives in almost instantly. Behind on her rent and unable to hold down a job, her friends and sister rally around to help her out. But when she’s using her pee to put out cigarette fires, they may just have their work cut out for them.”
