If you’ve been eagerly waiting for more of Netflix’s gritty undercover drama Legends, we have some fantastic news for you. The hit British crime thriller has officially been renewed for Season 2!

Released globally on May 7, 2026, Legends quickly became one of the most talked-about British crime thrillers of the year. Created by Neil Forsyth (The GoldGuilt), the series took us back to the early 1990s and followed a team of ordinary, largely untrained Customs employees who went undercover to infiltrate Britain’s most dangerous drug gangs. For a refresher on what went down in the first outing, you can check out our extensive release date, cast, and plot guide.

Now, as first reported by Variety, Netflix has officially given the green light for a second season. The new season of Legends, which will again be composed of 6 episodes, will go into production next year.

Creator and writer Neil Forsyth is officially returning to pen the next chapter. “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to tell a new story in the fascinating and unique world that ‘Legends’ offers, and to show just how dangerous, thrilling, and important their work became in the late 1990s,” said Forsyth to Variety.

As we previously covered when the creator and director teased the show’s gritty 1990s setting, Forsyth’s passion for this largely forgotten chapter of British law enforcement is the driving force behind the show’s incredible authenticity.

Behind the scenes, Forsyth exec produces alongside Ben Farrell, Rhiannon Forsyth for Tannadice Pictures, and Richard Bradley for Lion Television. Legends is produced by Tannadice Pictures, an Objective Media Group company, in association with Lion Television, both part of Banijay Entertainment.

The news comes as Netflix UK announces updates to its series slate, including confirmations of renewals for House of Guinness and The Gentlemen. Anne Mensah, Vice President, UK Content, said: “Our audiences loved these shows so it is such a delight to bring them back. To revisit the Guinness family, cook with the Ramsays, go undercover with the Legends and be At Home With The Furys. A huge thank you to the brilliant producers, actors, writers, directors and crew behind these shows and all of our returners on Netflix — it’s an utter privilege to host these gems.”

What is Legends Season 2 about?

The stakes are getting even higher for Don (Steve Coogan), Guy (Tom Burke), and the rest of the undercover squad. According to Netflix, here is the official Season 2 synopsis:

“As the story moves further into the 1990s, a changing Britain faces a new drugs threat on a scale never seen before. The team of undercover Custom Officers come together once more to take on new challenges, and new enemies, in a thrilling, worldwide operation.”
