Bodyguard Coming To Netflix Uk

Bodyguard, the popular new BBC thriller will finally be coming to Netflix in the United Kingdom in March 2019. Here’s a bit about the show and why it’s come to Netflix UK so late.

BBC has been putting out some top quality content in recent years and that’s partly down to big US streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu getting involved in the production. The extra money these services bring help to gain top talent and writing staff.

Bodyguard aired on the BBC between August and September last year and came to Netflix in the United States in October as a Netflix Original.

As with the likes of Peaky Blinders, Sherlock and other BBC shows, they do eventually arrive in the Netflix in the United Kingdom too.

Thanks to some super sleuthing, we can now reveal that we’re currently expecting season 1 of Bodyguard to be streaming on Netflix in the UK in March 2019.

The news comes after the expiration date (something the BBC is trying to remove as it’s government mandated) was found on the iPlayer service.

Further confirmation came from Netflix’s official account for the UK.

When will Bodyguard season 1 be on Netflix UK?

At the moment, we’re currently expecting season 1 to arrive on Netflix UK on March 23rd, 2019.

As Netflix picked up the rights to the show abroad, it also will carry the streaming rights in the UK too but the show won’t be carried under the Netflix Original banner. Instead, it’ll reside on the service like Peaky Blinders, Sherlock and other BBC titles.

Of course, you can still stream the show on BBC iPlayer for free up until that point although you do need a TV license to do so.

Any news on season 2 of Bodyguard?

While you’re here, you’re probably wondering if there’s any news on season 2. There’s been plenty of rumblings such as who is returning and what it’ll cover but despite this, there’s still not been an official confirmation by the BBC of the existence of a second season.

As the BBC is quite slow at both renewing and releasing its new titles, you can bet it’ll be quite a while until we see more of Bodyguard.
