Marvel/Netflix Comic-con 2016 Announcements

It’s been a busy couple of years for the Marvel TV shows on Netflix but it turns out we’re only getting started. With 2 seasons of Daredevil and a season of Jessica Jones under its belt it’s time to start initialising The Defenders with the teasing of everything that’s coming up in the Netflix Marvel TV universe. We’ve got new information on The Defenders, Luke Cage, Daredevil and Iron Fist. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get started.

Luke Cage

Let’s kick off with the series that’s expected to land onto Netflix soonest, Luke Cage. Scheduled to arrive in September 2016, it won’t be Luke Cage’s first outing on Netflix but it will be the first individual outing as he goes at it alone. We first saw Luke Cage on Jessica Jones late last year and while he sure had his bad ass moments, we can’t wait to see what Marvel will do giving him his own series.

Unlike Jessica Jones who has a bit of a dark streak, Luke Cage is a bit more relaxed and reserved but has an epic super power. He’s gifted in the sense that bullets can’t hurt him and he has super strength. We’re only a few months away so get ready for an epic first season.

Iron Fist

The last of four Defenders got its first look at comic con and actually probably provided the biggest surprise seeing the Game of Thrones star in his role as Iron Fist. Although we suspect that Iron Fist will be released before The Defenders, we suspect that it may be sometime and a potential 2017 release date looks likely.

The trailer revealed our main character who seemed to have been involved with an air accident and then trained by monks.

The Defenders Season 1

What happens when you combine a blind guy, an alcoholic, a felon and a hippie with superpowers in New York? You get the Defenders. The epic reveal trailer for the TV series that sees each of our Netflix characters join forces together will probably not be due out until late 2017/2018 but that doesn’t mean you can’t get excited for it.

In the trailer, with Nirvana – Come as you Are, playing in the background, we see a lot of references to each of the character until stick says “you think the four of you can save New York? You can’t even save yourselves.”

Daredevil Season 3

Last but certainly not least is the reveal that Daredevil will indeed be returning for a third outing at some point in the future although it’s thought that it won’t be until after his role in The Defenders.
