Vampire TV Series on Netflix: Halloween 2019

The Vampire Diaries

Seasons: 8
Episodes: 171
Cast Members: Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Kat Graham, Candice King, Nina Dobrev

The Vampire Diaries has been on Netflix for years now and even before it came to an end it was one of the most binged titles on the streaming service. Debuting in 2009, The Vampire Diaries based on the novels of the same name, became one of the most popular titles The CW had to offer. The series has since spawned two spin-offs, which are also available to stream on Netflix. A guilty pleasure, The Vampire Diaries is the perfect series to binge on and what better time to start than Halloween?

Months after the untimely death of her parents, Elena Gilbert is trying to move on with her life. When a new and mysterious student, Stefan Salvatore, joins the school, she finds herself drawn to the handsome new student. She soon discovers Stefan’s secret that he is in fact a Vampire, and hundreds of years old but is attempting to live peacefully amongst humans. Meanwhile, Stefan’s brother Damon arrives in town, causing chaos wherever he goes.

The Originals

Seasons: 5
Episodes: 92
Cast Members: Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Charles Michael Davis, Phoebe Tonkin, Yusuf Gatewood

The first spin-off set in The Vampire Diaries universe, The Originals is centered around the family of popular villain Niklaus Mikaelson. The series only ran for five seasons but was still very popular amongst fans of its predecessor. An easy and fun binge, The Originals is a great little series with lots of character.

Klaus and his remaining Mikaelson siblings return to the city of New Orleans to reclaim the city they built for themselves. Decades have long since past since Klaus was last in New Orleans and new factions have risen within the city. To become king of New Orleans once more, Klaus face a growing hostile supernatural community head-on and show the world why it must still fear the Mikaelson clan.

Legacies

Seasons: 1
Episodes: 16
Cast Members: Danielle Rose Russell, Aria Shahghasemi, Kaylee Bryant, Matthew Davis, Jenny Boyd

The third series set in The Vampires Diaries universe, Legacies is set years after the events of its predecessors TVD and The Originals. With plenty of fresh new faces, Legacies is The CW’s attempt to reinvigorate the enthusiasm for the franchise from young and old fans alike. Building upon the legacy (pun intended) and lore of the previous two series, Legacies has plenty of potential. We’d recommend watching TVD and The Originals before tuning into Legacies.

Two years after the events of The Originals ending, Hope Mikaelson now attends the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted. Alaric Saltzman and Caroline Forbes run the school as the headmasters. Damon Salvatore donated the school to Caroline after the death of his brother Stefan. The school is open to any untrained werewolf, vampire or witch that wish to learn and control their respective powers. Learning to become their best selves despite their worst impulses, will the students of the school become heroes? Or were they born to be villains?

Castlevania N

Seasons: 2
Episodes: 12
Cast Members: Richard Armitage, James Callis, Graham McTavish, Alejandra Reynoso, Matt Frewer

PowerHouse Animation are the brains and brawn behind the anime adaptation of one of the oldest video game franchises in history. This beautiful and stylistic Original is knee-deep in the lore of 30 years worth of video games from the franchise. With an excellent story and equally excellent voice actors, Castlevania is one of the best anime out there to date and it deserves to be added to your watch list.

After his wife is burned at the stake after being falsely accused of witchcraft, the vampire Count Vlad Dracula Tepes declares that all the people of Wallachia will pay with their lives. He summons an army of monsters and demons which overruns the country, causing the people to live lives of fear and distrust. To combat this, the disgraced monster hunter Trevor Belmont takes up arms against Dracula’s forces, aided by the magician Sypha Belnades and Dracula’s dhampir son Alucard.

Van Helsing

Seasons: 3
Episodes: 39
Cast Members: Kelly Overton, Jonathan Scarfe, Vincent Gale, Christopher Heyerdahl, Rukiya Bernard, Trezzo Mahoro

If there’s one thing SyFy is incredible at, it’s producing guilty pleasure content. Just like Z-Nation, SyFy’s take on the vampire genre is equally bizarre and zany but incredibly entertaining. If you’re looking for something out in left-field then Van Helsing is the perfect show for you.

Vanessa Helsing, a distant relative of famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, is awakened from a coma only to find that vampires have taken over the world.

In recent years Sony Animation has been very hit and miss with their releases. But one franchise that has absolutely smashed it out of the park is Hotel Transylvania. Since debuting in 2012, the franchise has spawned two further films and television series. Much of the success can be credited to Adam Sandler’s fun portrayal of Dracula. Summer Vacation is the third film of the franchise and one that al of the family can enjoy.
