It’s been a busy week on Netflix, with close to 60 new releases added so far, with many not previously expected to arrive on the service. Below, we’ll look through every new movie and series that has dropped onto the platform.

In case you missed it too – Netflix has just launched a new licensed initiative with collections throughout 2024. The first sees much of the new movies Netflix added that are from the 1970s on January 1st into a new special collection.
Per Netflix, “more offerings from 1984 (turning 40), 1994 (turning 30), and 2004 (20 years ago) will follow in April, July, and October, respectively.”

Originally meant to release on Netflix a little earlier this month but finally arriving today is Arkansas, a Lionsgate movie that premiered four years ago in cinemas.
Starring Liam Hemsworth (soon to be Geralt in Netflix’s The Witcher franchise), Clark Duke, Vince Vaughn, and John Malkovich, the movie follows a duo of low-level drug runners operating in the south who have begun developing problems with their boss, who they’ve yet to meet.

A quieter week so far for Netflix Originals, but this new three-part crime docu-series is already making waves and has gotten an impressive 7.8 on IMDb so far.
Produced by the UK outfit RAW (worked on The Deepest Breath and The Tinder Swindler for Netflix), the doc is about a couple that is accused of staging a home invasion and kidnapping of their daughter.

One movie from the 1970s not mentioned in yesterday’s collection announcement is the 1971 movie from Clint Eastwood.
What can you expect from this Eastwood thriller? It’s about a brief romantic encounter between a radio DJ and a listener who regularly requests songs, which begins to spiral out of control as her behavior becomes increasingly obsessive, jeopardizing both his career and personal life.
With the addition of this movie today, that means there are over 40 classics from the 1970s now streaming on Netflix US.
