Netflix looks to the past with its new hit Indian spy series.
Theatrical releases dominated Netflix’s August Indian movie lineup, but the streamer made a splash with its new Original series Saare Jahan Se Accha, which featured in the Global Top 10 Non-English Shows in its first two weeks of release. Here are all of the Indian movies and series added to Netflix in August 2025.

Thammudu (2025)

Little Things star Mithila Palkar makes her Tamil movie debut with Oho Enthan Baby. Palkar plays Meera, ex-girlfriend of aspiring screenwriter Ashwin (Rudra), who uses their failed relationship as inspiration for his latest script. When a famous actor encourages Ashwin to reunite with Meera as part of the writing process, it gives the former couple the chance to see if they’ve outgrown the problems that once killed their romance. Maa (2025)

Maa is a spin-off of the 2024 Hindi horror film Shaitaan (which is also streaming on Netflix). The new movie stars Kajol — real-life wife of Shaitaan star Ajay Devgn — as Ambika, a woman who visits her husband’s ancestral town with him and their preteen daughter. After Ambika’s husband dies suspiciously, she learns that young girls from the village have been disappearing. Ambika must stand against an ancient curse if she hopes to save herself, her daughter, and the girls of the village. A thief named Dhaya thinks he’s found the perfect mark when he helps Vela, a wealthy man with Alzheimer’s. Dhaya agrees to drive Vela to his brother-in-law’s house in the hope of getting the old man to disclose his ATM pin code, enabling the thief to then drain his bank account. There, the cop discovers connections to his long-lost family and tribal legacy, all while trying to survive a civil war. Tehran (2025)

Genre: Spy Thriller | Added to Netflix: August 28
Tehran is a straight-to-streaming release, but not a Netflix Original. The film premiered globally on the service ZEE5 on August 14, 2025 — two weeks before it debuted on Netflix. It’s still available on ZEE5 as well. John Abraham plays a Delhi cop who travels internationally to murder an Iranian operative who tried to assassinate an Israeli diplomat on Indian soil, killing a young Indian girl in the process. The story gives lip service to not taking sides in the Middle Eastern conflict while clearly taking sides, and the result is a moral and political mess.
Metro… In Dino (2025)

Anurag Basu is fond of ensemble pictures, having directed the terrific caper Ludo for Netflix. He brings back four members of his Ludo cast — Aditya Roy Kapur, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, and Pritam — for Metro… In Dino, a spiritual sequel to his 2007 movie Life in a… Metro (also streaming on Netflix). The new film weaves together multiple love stories to paint a picture of romance in contemporary India, with all its modern pitfalls.

It’s not just one national intelligence agency versus another, but spy versus spy, as Indian agent Vishnu (Pratik Gandhi) and his Pakistani counterpart Murtaza (Sunny Hinduja) try to outsmart one another. The danger peaks when Vishnu crosses enemy lines, holding the fates of two nations in his hands.
