Happy Fourth of July weekend! Welcome to your end-of-week roundup of everything new on Netflix US. As we noted in our special mid-week July 1st recap, the first of the month brought an absolute tidal wave of new licensed content. Now that the dust has settled, we’re back to look at the complete picture: a staggering 90 new releases (63 movies and 27 series) have been added over the past seven days.

Whether you’re hiding from the summer heat indoors or looking for the perfect movie to cap off your holiday barbecue, Netflix has given us plenty to choose from.
Before we dive into the data to see what subscribers are watching this holiday weekend, here are three of our top streaming highlights for the week:

Best New Movies and Shows on Netflix This Week

Old Henry (2021)

Type: Movie
Genre: Western, Action | Runtime: 1h 39m

If you’re in the mood for a gritty, critically acclaimed throwback this holiday weekend, look no further than Old Henry. Tim Blake Nelson delivers a phenomenal, career-best performance as a widowed farmer harboring a dark, mysterious past. When he takes in a wounded man who is carrying a satchel full of cash, a violent posse comes knocking, forcing the quiet farmer to tap into his deadly old ways to defend his homestead. It’s a taut, incredibly well-crafted Western micro-masterpiece that deserves your immediate attention.

80 for Brady (2023)

Type: Movie
Genre: Comedy, Sports | Runtime: 1h 38m

Looking for a breezy, feel-good comedy to watch with the whole family today? This charming sports comedy features an absolute powerhouse quartet of Hollywood legends: Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field. Based on a true story, it follows four lifelong friends who make it their mission to travel to Super Bowl LI to see their hero, Tom Brady, play. It’s silly, lighthearted, and packed with irresistible chemistry from its legendary leading ladies.

Heroes (Seasons 1-4)

Type: TV Series
Genre: Sci-Fi, Drama, Superhero

“Save the cheerleader, save the world.” Long before the MCU dominated pop culture, Tim Kring’s 2006 network drama captured the cultural zeitgeist unlike anything else although its time on NBC was rocky to say the least. Netflix has just licensed all four seasons of the original series, the first time it’s done so in over a decade, which follows ordinary people around the globe discovering they possess superhuman abilities. If you’ve never seen it, Season 1 remains one of the most gripping, perfectly paced seasons of television of the 2000s. If you have, it’s the perfect time for a nostalgic summer binge.
