It’s a bumper week for Netflix UK with a staggering 63 new movies and TV shows hitting the library. Headlining the original slate is Ben Affleck’s gripping new thriller Animals, alongside the spooky second season of Haunted Hotel and the debut of horror series Below. If that wasn’t enough, a fresh batch of weekly anime and a massive licensed drop featuring a monster-sized stack of Godzilla films, the complete Ice Age franchise, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians are also arriving.
First of all, here are the week’s top highlights:
Animals
Ben Affleck already had a huge hit on Netflix this year with The Rip. It’ll take some work to replicate that success, but with the actor being a massive draw for the streaming service, Animals could be another huge hit.
When their son is kidnapped, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate and his wife find themselves drawn into a web of deception. As they scramble to raise the ransom payment, they’re forced to make choices that could tear their world apart.
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire
Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus One is landing in cinemas soon, so to get you in the mood, there’s no better way than watching rampant kaiju face off in a fight that will determine the fate of the world.
Godzilla reigns supreme over the surface, while Kong now calls Hollow Earth home. In his search for more of his own kind, the giant ape discovers something even more terrifying, threatening the fragile peace between humanity and monsters.
Haunted Hotel Season 2
Haunted Hotel was a hit with Netflix subscribers last year, and we’re delighted to see the series return so soon, just in time for spooky season.
Single mother Katherine is desperate for a fresh start when she inherits a sprawling, rundown hotel from her late brother. Packing up her two children, she moves into the dilapidated property hoping to rebuild their lives, only to discover the building is inhabited by dozens of ghosts, including her brother.
