The fourth and final part of Pokémon Horizons Season 3 is coming to Netflix on September 18, 2026. The arrival of the final episodes marks a potential landmark moment for the Pokémon anime, with rumors circulating that after 29 years of weekly episodes, the series will shift to a seasonal format after the release of the upcoming tenth-generation games.

The first season introduced the characters of Liko and Roy, who take over as the series’ protagonists from Ash Ketchum. The pair traveled with the Rising Volt Tacklers, but in the second season, they decided to improve their Pokémon training and learn more about their Pokémon companions.

The new series takes place a year after the events of season 2, as Liko and Roy re-establish a now leaderless Rising Volt Tacklers. Joining them on their journey are Roy’s new yellow Lucario, Dot, an expert intel gatherer, and Ult, who declares himself Roy’s rival.

The Pokémon anime format rumored for a landmark change

Netflix has been the home of Pokémon for several years, but a landmark change may be on the way for the anime series.

While it has not been officially confirmed by the Pokémon Company or Netflix, rumors have surfaced online that after 29 years and 1361 episodes, weekly releases of the Pokémon anime are coming to an end. Instead, Pokémon will reportedly be taking a leaf out of One Piece’s book, and with the release of the tenth-generation Pokémon game, the new anime series will shift to a seasonal format.

This means that instead of the dozens of episodes fans are accustomed to every year, there will be a limited number of episodes, likely between 12 and 26.

So, while the future of the Pokémon anime remains to be seen, we’d certainly expect to see it land on Netflix.
