The highly anticipated Raising Dion has been on the lips of subscribers for many months now and we can confirm it will be arriving soon! Raising Dion is an upcoming Netflix Original Sci-Fi drama based on the comic book of the same name by Dennis Liu. The series was written by Carol Barbee who is known for her work on Judging Amy and Close to Home.


What is the plot of Raising Dion?

After the death of her husband Mark, Nicole Reese is left to raise her son Dion, alone. The job of being a single mother only gets harder for Nicole when Dion manifests multiple superhero-like powers and abilities.

To protect her son and to help teach him how to use his powers for good, Nicole enlists the help of Mark’s best friend, Pat. The pair try to figure out the origins of Dion’s abilities while also trying to protect the young boy from those who would exploit his powers.

Will the first season of Raising Dion cover all of the comic?

There is only one issue of Raising Dion, which consists of 26 pages. The first season will likely cover all of the comic and may even go further beyond the comic’s story.

When and where did production take place?

Filming took place throughout the state of Georgia. Towns included in filming were Chattahoochee Hills and Fairburn.

Some filming took place in Midtown Atlanta and even Fox Theatre.

Principal photography began at the end of July 2018.


How many episodes will the first season air?

The first season of Raising Dion will be airing ten episodes.

At the time of writing, there’s no confirmation on how long each episode will run for. We’re speculating that each episode will be approximately 45 minutes.
