Resident Alien has been heavily featured in the Netflix top 10s since its surprise addition to Netflix. With season 3 airing on Syfy, will the third season come to Netflix? Nothing is guaranteed, but if it is, it won’t be available for a while.
The addition of seasons 1 and 2 to Netflix came as a somewhat surprise, with TVLine first reporting the show was Netflix-bound earlier in 2024. Netflix US picked up the show in mid-February 2024, with other Netflix territories also carrying the show from March 2024 onwards.
Since being added to Netflix, the show has featured in the US TV top 10s every day, peaking as the second most-watched show. In addition, the show featured in the global Netflix top 10s, picking up 12,700,000 hours watched between February 11th, 2024, and February 18th, 2024.
Will Resident Alien Season 3 Come to Netflix?
Currently, there’s no indication that Resident Alien season 3 will come to Netflix. That’s because of the nature of how the show was picked up. In prior years, Syfy series all came to Netflix under an expansive overall deal where new show seasons would drop annually following their initial airing. Many of these shows, such as Happy! and The Magicians, are still streaming on Netflix.
In the case of Resident Alien, it was picked up by Netflix outside of this arrangement. That said, if the show succeeds, Netflix will be encouraged to pick up season 3, and we typically find that new seasons of network shows will come to the service a year after their initial airing or shortly before a new season begins to air.

If that’s the case here, we’d expect Resident Alien season 3 to arrive in early 2025, or if the show gets an early season 4 renewal for the fall 2024 season, it could come even sooner.
Coincidentally, our understanding is that if Netflix doesn’t pick up the rights to season 3 of Resident Alien, the show is scheduled to leave on February 13th, 2025, meaning the show was only acquired for a single year.
There are other streaming options in the meantime, just in case Resident Alien S3 doesn’t come to Netflix.
Where to Watch Resident Alien Season 3
You have three choices if you can’t wait for it to hit Netflix. The first is to watch the show on Syfy Live via your cable subscriptions or find re-runs of the newest season.
The second is that the show is available on catch-up via the Syfy website for free. This is ad-supported, and all the episodes are available for an entire year after their initial airing.
Finally, new episodes are dropping quickly on Peacock, where the show is locked to the app’s Premium version, according to JustWatch.
Finally, if you need even more Resident Alien in your life – Dark Horse Comics just recently announced it will expand the storyline with a new comic series focusing on Harry Vanderspeigle. Per Syfy Wire, the comic series is titled The Book of Life and will have four issues.
