Skylanders Season

‘Skylanders Academy’ is an animated show that’s a collaboration between Netflix and Activision after the success of their long-running video-game series. The show is based on the characters from the game, which includes Spyro, Stealth Elf, Jet-Vac and many others from the Skylands universe.

It looks like this series is going to be another popular kid show from Netflix that will be getting new seasons every year will a steadily growing fan-base. Voice actors in the show include Justin Long (Spyro the Dragon), Jonathan Banks (Eruptor) and Ashley Tisdale (Stealth Elf).

The series was first announced back in June of 2016 and will be created by Activision’s in-house animation studio in partnership with Blizzard, who have branched away from gaming. The first season released on October 28th 2016 (almost exactly a year ago) and consisted of 12 episodes, each 25 minutes long, apart from the first, which was 44 minutes. The series was immediately popular among children and people who played the video games, even Crash Bandicoot was featured in an episode.

Season 2 of the show has just debuted on the 6th of October, just shy of a year after the 1st season released. It continues the story of the Skylanders and their training by Master Eon in order to battle the evil Kaos. Season 2 also welcomed Felicia Day to the cast, playing the role of ‘Cynder’ a new dragon cadet.

Skylanders Season 3 Renewal Status

Official Renewal Status: The show has been renewed.

The animated comedy has officially been picked up for a third season by Netflix, and production by ‘Activision Blizzard’ Studios started way back in February. The show was actually renewed even before the release of the second season and the co-president of the studio, Nick van Dyk stated: “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Netflix on this iconic franchise.”

Skylanders Season 3 Release Date

A lot of the time, CGI style animated series like Dragons: Race to the Edge and Skylanders Academy have a pretty quick turn-over rate when it comes to production. They usually are set on an annual schedule, being able to pump out a 12/13 part series within a year; pretty impressive.

We know that season 3 is due to release sometime in 2018 and if the last 2 seasons are anything to go by, we can estimate with some amount of certainty that the third season will be ready around September/October 2018.
