Stranger Things has built a reputation not just on monsters and mystery, but on its near-mythic command of music. The show’s soundtrack is a time capsule, packed with needle-drops that have escaped the confines of the series and stormed back onto global charts. Season 5 has only offered four episodes so far, yet it already comes with a stacked playlist.

The big question is whether this season will deliver another chart-shaking moment. Season 4 gave the world a fresh obsession with Kate Bush’s 1985 single “Running Up That Hill,” which became a lifeline for Max and climbed to number one in the UK while cracking the US top five. Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” followed suit, roaring into the modern zeitgeist after Eddie Munson’s now-legendary performance in the Upside Down. Even earlier seasons helped spark pop-culture fireworks, from the viral “NeverEnding Story” duet in season 3 to the revival of The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” in season 1.

Whether season 5 produces another chart reentry is anyone’s guess, but the potential is there. The new Squak Radio offers a perfect gateway for musical surprises, and history suggests the show is more than capable of setting off another sonic chain reaction.
