Top Boy is a Netflix Original series that was created by Ronan Bennett. The series original network was Channel 4 but after only two seasons and eight episodes, it was canceled. If it wasn’t for the Canadian rapper Drake and fellow rapper Future the Prince, then Top Boy may have never returned. Both rappers fell in love with the series and, with Drake having offered to fund a third series back in 2015. Netflix helped revive the series, reinstating Ronan Bennett as the writer of the series while also bringing back the team that worked on the original two seasons. Drake and Future the Prince now serve as executive producers of the series.

The new episodes pick up as Dushane returns from exile to his home in London to reclaim his throne in the highly lucrative drug market. He teams up with Sully, his spiritual brother, partner and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile – prison – comes to an end. Awaiting them both is Jamie, the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully
Is Top Boy being rebooted?
It’s better to describe Top Boy as being revived rather than being rebooted.
Rebooted suggests the entire story of the first two seasons has been scrapped, which simply isn’t the case.
The story is a continuation of the previous seasons and isn’t starting from scratch.

Will season 3 be the last we see of Top Boy?
Netflix hasn’t confirmed that season 3 will be the last, so we’ll assume no for now.
Whether or not we see any further seasons will depend on how well the third season performs when it arrives in September.
Taking into consideration how much Drake loves the series, we could see plenty more of Top Boy in the future.
