Whether you are looking for terrifying new horror movies, inspirational true stories, or the next gripping installment of a flagship true-crime franchise, this week’s lineup has plenty to keep your queue full all weekend long.

In case you missed it, we’ve already highlighted a couple of great new movies that should be in your queue this week, and for a full list of what’s still to come throughout the remainder of August, keep it locked here.

Before we dive into the data to see what subscribers have actually been watching, let’s take a look at our three streaming highlights for the week:

Best New Movies and Shows on Netflix This Week

Immaculate (2024)

Type: Movie
Genre: Horror, Thriller | Runtime: 1h 29m

Sydney Sweeney takes a massive swing (and knocks it out of the park) in this terrifying, blood-soaked psychological horror flick. Sweeney stars as Cecilia, a devoutly religious young American nun who is invited to join a picturesque convent in the remote Italian countryside. However, her spiritual journey quickly devolves into a waking nightmare as she uncovers the convent’s dark, horrifying secrets and finds herself inexplicably pregnant. It’s a gripping, fiercely intense horror film boasting a jaw-dropping final act you won’t soon forget.

Conversations with a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes (Limited Series)

Type: TV Series
Genre: Documentary, True Crime

Several years in the making, director Joe Berlinger returns to expand his wildly successful Conversations with a Killer franchise (which previously tackled Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Jeffrey Dahmer). This time, the docuseries turns its chilling focus onto Charles Manson and the infamous “Manson Family” murders of 1969. Featuring never-before-heard archival audio recordings and fresh interviews, this multi-part limited series provides a fresh, disturbing glimpse into the mind of one of America’s most notorious cult leaders.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)

Type: Movie
Genre: Crime, Mystery, Thriller | Runtime: 2h 38m

If you are in the mood for a dark, atmospheric mystery, David Fincher’s masterful adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s bestselling novel has returned to Netflix. Daniel Craig stars as Mikael Blomkvist, a disgraced financial journalist who is hired by a wealthy industrialist to investigate the 40-year-old disappearance of his niece. To unravel a string of deeply unsettling family secrets, Blomkvist teams up with Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara, in an Oscar-nominated, career-defining performance), a brilliant but antisocial computer hacker. It is a gripping, relentless, and meticulously crafted psychological thriller that demands your full attention.

Don’t Say Good Luck (2026)

Type: Movie
Genre: Drama, Coming-of-Age | Runtime: 1h 45m

Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions is back on Netflix, but this time, it’s his daughter Sunny Sandler stepping out of the background and taking center stage for a major dramatic turn. She stars as a fiercely dedicated high school theater hopeful navigating the grueling, cutthroat world of stage auditions while simultaneously dealing with a sudden, devastating family tragedy. Moving away from the usual slapstick comedy of her father’s films, Sunny proves she has serious dramatic chops. In fact, in our full review of the film, we praised her lead performance as an absolute “emotional tour-de-force.”
