Pictures via Netflix
It’s now Summer and a few months since we last covered what’s getting the most heat amongst Netflix’s upcoming slate of movies and series. In this semi-regular list gauging Netflix’s most anticipated upcoming titles, this list will use IMDb’s MovieMETER on IMDb Pro to look at what’s generating the most traffic and interest among Netflix’s upcoming debut series (excluding returning shows).
Note: IMDb’s MovieMeter updates every single Tuesday, and given that traffic can eb and flow based on a bunch of factors, it’s just a reflection of the title’s popularity for that week, but is still a useful indicator as to what people are looking forward to longer term.
1. Little House on the Prairie

What it is & Who’s in it: An epic new historical family drama adapting Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic frontier novels. Developed by Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, Archive 81) and produced by CBS Studios and Anonymous Content, the sweeping series stars Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls and Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: Slated to premiere very soon on July 9, 2026, Netflix recently dropped a breathtaking official trailer that drove massive traffic to the title. Netflix is clearly confident in this adaptation, having already renewed it for a second season ahead of its debut, which is filming imminently. Whether it’s a big hit, I’m personally not 100% sure on. Period dramas usually go one of two ways.
2. A Different World
What it is & Who’s in it: A revival and sequel to the classic ’90s NBC sitcom set at the fictional HBCU, Hillman College. The new comedy series centers on Deborah Wayne (Tony Award winner Maleah Joi Moon), the daughter of original characters Dwayne and Whitley. Longtime fans will be thrilled to see returning legacy cast members like Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: Expected to be a massive comedy event, Netflix released a teaser trailer at the end of May, confirming a September 24, 2026, release date—exactly 39 years to the day after the original show premiered.
3. The Hawk

What it is & Who’s in it: A new sports comedy series starring Will Ferrell as Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a washed-up, legendary golfer who attempts to make the ultimate comeback on the PGA Tour to complete his Grand Slam. The show also stars Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, and Luke Wilson.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: Arriving on July 16, 2026, the marketing push is in full swing following the release of an official trailer in May. Marking Will Ferrell’s first major television comedy series, the anticipation is sky-high, but can it deliver? Netflix’s comedies produced internally have a mixed batting average.
4. Scooby-Doo: Origins

What it is & Who’s in it: Produced by Berlanti Productions, this is the very first live-action television series in the Scooby-Doo franchise[10]. The show is a prequel exploring the terrifying first case that brings Mystery Inc. together. It stars Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, Mckenna Grace as Daphne, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: Set for a 2027 release, this title surged up the charts over the last few days following the viral revelation that, for the first time in live-action franchise history, Scooby-Doo will be played by a real puppy rather than CGI. That and it’s an IP that’s beloved by generations, the anticipation is sky high, but execution will need to be paw perfect.
5. Ghostbusters: Night Shift
What it is & Who’s in it: The beloved ghoul-catching franchise returns to animation in this joint production between Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation. Executive produced by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan (who co-wrote Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Frozen Empire), this series continues the supernatural comedy legacy.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: Interest spiked dramatically this past week after the series’ official title and logo were announced during the annual Ghostbusters Day celebration in New York City. The series is slated to premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2027 and is completely unrelated to the upcoming Ghostbusters animated movie also in the works at Netflix.
6. Notes from the Last Row
What it is & Who’s in it: In what’s the first international title on this list, Notes from the Last Row is described as a gripping South Korean psychological thriller adapted from the Spanish play The Boy in the Last Row. The series stars Oldboy legend Choi Min-sik as a failed novelist-turned-professor who becomes dangerously obsessed with the raw writing talent of a quiet student, played by Choi Hyun-wook.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: Releasing in just a couple of weeks on June 26, 2026, the newly dropped trailer and posters have set K-drama fans buzzing. Choi Min-sik’s formidable and returning screen presence makes this a must-watch.
7. Human Vapor
What it is & Who’s in it: A sci-fi crime thriller co-production between Netflix and Toho Studios, rebooting the classic 1960 tokusatsu film. Directed by Shinzo Katayama with Train to Busan creator Yeon Sang-ho serving as showrunner, it stars Shun Oguri and Yu Aoi. The story follows a terrifying criminal who can turn his body into gas to commit a series of bizarre murders.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: Scheduled for a global release on July 2, 2026, the intense, visually stunning trailer just dropped, showcasing impressive VFX from the Academy Award-winning Godzilla Minus One team (Shirogumi).
8. Breakers
What it is & Who’s in it: A psychological surfing thriller produced by Clerkenwell Films (Baby Reindeer). It stars Antony Starr (The Boys) as Brando, the charismatic and mysterious leader of a seemingly perfect surf community in Western Australia, who draws in two young American backpackers.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: Having recently wrapped production in Western Australia (where it made history as the state’s largest ever production), audiences are incredibly eager to see Antony Starr’s highly anticipated follow-up television role to Homelander.
9. The God of the Woods

What it is & Who’s in it: Based on the bestselling 2024 novel by Liz Moore, this multigenerational mystery drama stars Stranger Things‘ Maya Hawke as a young investigator looking into the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl from a summer camp in the Adirondacks[26]. She is joined by Oscar nominee Kerry Condon.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: With its high-profile cast announcements earlier this year, this prestige mystery adaptation—co-showrun by Liz Moore and Liz Hannah (The Girl from Plainville)—has been gaining massive traction among thriller and true-crime fans.
10. Musafir Café
What it is & Who’s in it: An intimate Hindi romantic drama series adapted from Divya Prakash Dubey’s novel. It stars Vikrant Massey as a software engineer with literary dreams and Vedika Pinto as a free-spirited divorce lawyer, exploring their unconventional living arrangement and modern relationships. Mahima Makwana co-stars.
The Latest and Why It’s Highly Anticipated: Netflix India’s recent promotional events and first-look trailer have pushed this series into the spotlight. Positioned as a soulful, “indie-vibe” romance, it serves as a much-anticipated palate cleanser among Netflix’s heavier slate of crime thrillers.
