True-crime enthusiasts won’t want to miss this chilling new documentary feature. Maternal Instinct delves into the harrowing 2020 case out of East Texas involving Taylor Parker. After meticulously faking a pregnancy for months, Parker committed an unthinkable crime against 21-year-old expecting mother Reagan Simmons-Hancock. The documentary unpacks the timeline of Parker’s web of deception, the devastating tragedy that followed, and the subsequent trial that placed her on death row. Song Sung Blue (2025)

If you missed this buzzy, heartwarming musical drama during its theatrical run late last year, you’re in luck. Thanks to the Universal streaming deal, Song Sung Blue is making its highly anticipated (partial) SVOD debut on Netflix US after its brief stint on Peacock.
Based on an incredible stranger-than-fiction true story, the film stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson as Mike and Claire Sardina, two down-on-their-luck musicians who form a surprisingly successful Neil Diamond tribute band called “Lightning and Thunder” . Directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow), the story tracks their rise from dive bar gigs to unexpected hometown stardom, along with the emotional hardships that test their enduring love.
