The Dick Van Dyke Show

Seasons 1 through 5 of the ‘Dick Van Dyke Show’ are scheduled to leave Netflix US on September 30th, 2018.

The series happens to be one of the oldest on Netflix. Running from 1961, the series was a comedy show which was one of the most influential of its time. The series of course, starred the fantastic Dick Van Dyke. In total, there were 158 episodes of the show spread across 5 series all of which are leaving at the end of the month.

Titles on Netflix come and go. As their contracts expire, they are removed from the service. Those contracts may be immediately renewed and you may not even notice one of your favorite shows has been gone and added back again. Other times it may take weeks or even months for a title to reappear.

When is ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’ Leaving?

The series is scheduled to be removed on September 30th, 2018.

Why Is It Being Removed? Will It Be Back?

The Dick Van Dyke Show is currently under contract with CBS All Access. We can’t help but think that has something to do with its removal as it was originally a CBS show. However, the show was previously removed in 2015 and then added back in 2016. Netflix has had the show running since that time. I have reason to believe the show will be back under contract with Netflix again in the future.

CBS All Access is still an experiment that has yet to gain a strong foothold with streaming audiences. The readdition of The Dick Van Dyke Show may have all to do with how well that service does in the future.

You can keep up with all of the titles soon to leave Netflix with our September list.
