Drawing Closer is an upcoming Japanese Netflix Original romantic drama movie co-written and directed by Miki Takahiro. Yoshida Tomoko was the co-writer of the film. The film is an adaptation of Aoi Morita’s novel of the same name.
Shuhei Akita (Ninja the Monster) is the movie’s executive producer, along with Kei Haruna (Let Me Eat Your Pancreas), who is also listed as a producer. Tokyo-based Django Film is the studio behind the production of Drawing Closer.

When is the Netflix release date for Drawing Closer?
Netflix has yet to make an official announcement, but we’ve heard that a preliminary release date of June 27th, 2024, has been set.

“Hayasaka Akito is a talented artist. He is working hard to be accepted for the Nika Exhibition, but a tumor is discovered in his heart and he is told that he has one year left to live. Hayasaka Akito doesn’t express his emotions on his diagnosis. One day, on the hospital rooftop, Hayasaka Akito meets Sakurai Haruna, who is painting. Sakurai Haruna tells him that she has only half a year to live. Hayasaka Akito gets attracted to her more and more, but he doesn’t tell her about his condition.

Who are the cast of Drawing Closer?
Only two cast members of Drawing Closer have been confirmed at the time of writing.
Nagase Ren plays the role of Hayasaka Akito. Drawing Closer will be the actor’s first appearance in a Netflix project. He is most well-known for starring in the television series The Knife and the Sword and the action comedy film Ninjani Calling on! Fight Towards the Future.

Deguchi Natsuki plays Sakurai Haruna. Like her co-star, the actress has yet to appear in a Netflix series. She is known for starring in the Japanese movies Till We Meet Again on the Lily Hill and Girl Gun Lady.
