The fall season is in full swing and we’ve already seen some excellent new Originals arrive over the course of 2019. One such Original we hope will smash it out of the park is is the Ridley Scott produced original Earthquake Bird, which arrives this November. Earthquake Bird is a Netflix Original mystery drama based on the novel of the same name by author Susanna Jones. The film was produced by Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator) and was directed by Wash Westmoreland (Colette, Still Alice). Alongside his directing duties, Wash Westmoreland also wrote the screenplay for Earthquake Bird.


What is the plot of Earthquake Bird?

Set in 1989 Tokyo, Lucy Fly, a young female expat, is suspected of murder when her friend Lily goes missing in the wake of a tumultuous love triangle with Teiji, a handsome local photographer.

When did the production of Earthquake Bird take place?

Filming/Principal Photography began on May 8th, 2018 and concluded on July 7th, 2019.

The film then entered post-production but would take well over a year before premiering at the BFI London Film Festival.

What locations were used for filming?

All of the filming took place in Japan.
