Netflix has just announced that its highly anticipated Spanish thriller will receive a limited theatrical release ahead of its official Netflix debut this October. Titled She Walks in Darkness” (Un Fantasma En La Batalla in Spanish, which translates to “A Ghost in the Battle”), the new movie will premiere on Netflix globally on October 17, 2025.

Being produced by J.A. Bayona (the director of Netflix’s hit movie Society of the Snow), Netflix officially unveiled the project in April 2024 as production was getting underway in Spain and the French Basque Country.

The plot of the movie is inspired by the largest covert operation against ETA, which marked a turning point in the fight against terrorism in Spain. Grounded in the historical, political, and social context of the 1990s and 2000s, the film tells the story of Amaia, a young Civil Guard member who spends over a decade working as an undercover agent for the terrorist group to locate their hidden hideouts in southern France.

The movie is directed and written by Agustín Díaz Yanes (Gold, Walking Vengeance), with production led by Belén Atienza, Bayona, and Sandra Hermida. The film features original music by composer Arnau Bataller and cinematography by Paco Femenia. Juana Martínez serves as the casting director, while Alain Bainée is the production designer.

Here’s the official trailer that dropped on September 16th:
