Netflix Top 10s: ‘Don’t Say Good Luck’ Debuts Low As ‘Tires’ Season 3 Sees US Boost

Welcome back to your weekly breakdown of Netflix’s global top 10 viewership data. This week, we’re diving into the numbers for the week of August 10th to August 16th, 2026. Below, we’ll dive deep into the premiere viewership for Sunny Sandler’s new vehicle Don’t Say Good Luck, analyze the heavily US-skewed return of Shane Gillis’s Tires for season 3, and check in on a crowded week for true crime and sports documentaries.

It’s a week of fascinating contrasts on the charts. While My Life With the Walter Boys continues to dominate the English TV list and The Last House puts up massive numbers on the film side, we’re seeing some surprisingly soft debuts from new high-profile originals..

A couple of omissions from the top 10s this week, both on the non-English side. The Spanish movie To The Max didn’t feature; This, That and Everything in Between from the Philippines was also a no-show.

No MLB Field of Dreams in the Netflix top 10s, although, as we’ve seen before, Netflix tends to leave its big sporting events out now in favor of doing a press release themselves (or not at all). Per the Associated Press, Nielsen numbers put it at 1.66M viewers, down from prior years. Per AP, “The first MLB game at the Field of Dreams site in 2021 between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox averaged 5.91 million on Fox while the Chicago Cubs-Cincinnati Reds matchup in 2022 averaged 3.10 million.” The title did show up in 5 regions’ daily top 10s, including the United States at #1, Venezuela at #2, the Dominican Republic at #3, Nicaragua at #7, and Mexico at #8. That’s the weakest performance in the top 10s for the MLB on Netflix so far. As a reminder, MLB Opening Night debuted to 3M US viewers according to Nielsen.

Finally, in the all-time top 10, we just updated our article with the latest figures, where I Will Find You currently sits at #8 on the English TV all-time list and looks to gain a few more spots when all is said and done by September 17th. We’re currently predicting it might take #5 away from Wednesday season 2.

Don’t Say Good Luck Debuts Low

Both Sunny and Sadie Sandler have now gotten movies where they headline in 2026: Sadie in Roommates and now Sunny in Don’t Say Good Luck. The latter launched on Friday and just debuted to 8.1M views.

First of all, let’s stack it up against the opening 3-day period of all the 2026 releases, where it currently ranks last for the year:

Stacking up against prior years’ rom-coms and musical titles isn’t that impressive either:

On the bright side, the movie has picked up positive reviews across the board (including from our own Andrew Morgan), so we expect that to have some good word-of-mouth impact going into the first full week.

My Life With The Walter Boys S3 is behaving like S2

While season 3 debuted ahead of season 1 last week for My Life with the Walter Boys, it seems like viewership, much like with season 2, is more frontloaded, i.e., hardcore fans are checking it out in the opening few days. Much like season 2, we saw a single-digit percentage decline (4% compared to 8% for S2), which isn’t how season 1 performed back in December 2023, when it got a 70% increase from weeks 1 to 3. That said, of course, season 1 released over the Christmas holiday, so naturally had a few more eyeballs available to it.

All that said, the series is still holding very well for a returning show, and season 4 is already a go.

Tires Season 3 Debuts Up From Season 2 In The United States

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that a hardcore group of fans will tune in to Shane Gillis whenever he returns in his comedy series Tires, which returned for another bumper episode count in season 3. Season 2 notably missed the global charts in week 1, so we can only accurately compare season 1 vs. season 2, which, on the face of it, is down, but note that the runtime of season 3 is substantially longer. If we compare other season 1-to-season 3 drops, My Life With The Walter Boys is up 20%, The Diplomat is down 43%, Tires is down 36%, and XO, Kitty is down 9%.

In the United States at least, viewership is growing. Season 2 debuted at #6 in the US with 1.5M views in June last year, and season 3 just did 2M views (suggesting that only 400K of its weekly global views were outside the United States) – that represents a 33% increase.

My Brilliant Career

Kicking off a season of a busy period of period dramas on Netflix is My Brilliant Career from Australia, a title that wasn’t really marketed all that heavily beyond the borders of Down Under, to its detriment, I believe. It kicked off its run with 3.1M views, which places it quite far down compared to other Aus titles and period dramas.

Conversations with a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes

Conversations with a Killer, the Joe Berlinger true-crime docu-series, seems to have lost steam in recent years. While it debuted strong with the Dahmer tapes and followed that up with John Gacy strongly, the two most recent entries haven’t quite lived up to expectations. The Charles Manson Tapes did debut ahead of The Son of Sam, but given how notorious Charles Manson was, we’d have expected higher.

Is Mourinho really the chosen one?

Also on the documentary side this week, Jose Mourinho was the subject of a big 3-part docu-series that dropped on Tuesday. It sits pretty much amongst Netflix’s other sports docu-series from recent years released on a Tuesday, albeit it’s worth mentioning that Quarterback and WWE: Unreal both failed to get into the top 10s with their returning seasons, and titles like The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox or Prince Harry’s Polo didn’t feature at all either.

A Child of My Own Debuts at #2 on Non-English Film Chart

From Mexico, Netflix debuted an evocative documentary that shares DNA with Maternal Instinct from the US, but I digress. As we can often see with charts, a great, good, and not-so-good pattern can be seen, and for A Child of My Own, it falls into that good bracket with 5.1M views.

Nando Between Two Worlds – A Sintonia Film From Netflix Brazil

Sintonia, which concluded its main series run with season 5 back in February 2025, is back for a finale movie of sorts with Nando Between Two Worlds – A Sintonia Film. It debuted super strong with 11.1M views, which places it amongst the best Latin American debuts on a Wednesday in recent years:
