Welcome to your final weekly roundup for June 2026! As we prepare to cross over into July, Netflix is closing out the month with a very respectable 36 new releases (11 movies and 25 series) added to the US library over the past seven days. Below, we’ll pick out our favorite new additions and break down what’s been dominating the Netflix Top 10 charts.

Whether you are looking for the highly anticipated return of a massive fantasy series, a hefty licensed binge to kick off your summer, or some compelling historical drama, this week’s lineup has plenty to keep your queue full all weekend long.

Before we dive into the Top 10 data to see what subscribers have actually been watching, let’s take a look at our three streaming highlights for the week:

Best New Movies and Shows on Netflix This Week

 The 24th (2020)

Type: Movie
Genre: Drama, History | Runtime: 1h 53m

Co-written and directed by Kevin Willmott (who won an Oscar for co-writing BlacKkKlansman), this powerful historical drama is an absolute must-watch. Starring Trai Byers (who also co-wrote), it tells the harrowing true story of the all-Black 24th United States Infantry Regiment and the events leading up to the deadly Houston Riot of 1917. It’s a gripping, thought-provoking, and deeply emotional film that sheds light on a frequently overlooked chapter of American history.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (Season 2)

Type: TV Series
Genre: Fantasy, Action, Adventure

The wait is finally over! Aang, Katara, and Sokka are back as Netflix’s massive live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series returns for its second season. This time around, the gaang is heading into the Earth Kingdom to find Aang an Earthbending master, which means we finally get to meet the fan-favorite character Toph. The series undoubtedly upped the stakes this season, but whether it pays off in the viewership numbers, we’ll find out next week.

The Last Ship (Seasons 1-5)

Type: TV Series
Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller

If you’re looking for a massive, propulsive action-thriller to sink your teeth into, Netflix has just licensed all five seasons of this explosive TNT drama. Produced by Michael Bay and starring the late great Eric Dane, the series follows the crew of a lone U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer who, after a global viral pandemic wipes out most of the Earth’s population, must find a cure and literally save humanity. It’s high-stakes, popcorn-munching summer television at its finest.
