Usa Network Series Royal Pains Returns To Netflix

Netflix has picked up the rights to another USA Network show, with all eight seasons of Royal Pains touching down on Netflix in the United States unexpectedly on January 22nd, 2024.

Starring Mark Feuerstein, Paulo Costanzo, Reshma Shetty, Brooke D’Orsay, and Ben Shenkman, the show follows a young emergency room doctor who has to make a sudden career move after being blamed for a patient’s death. His new role is to serve as a house-call doctor for the rich and famous. The show ran for 104 episodes in total between 2009 and 2016 on USA Network, with Universal Television behind the show.

Long-term subscribers of Netflix will know this isn’t the first time Royal Pains has streamed on Netflix. The show was available throughout much of the 2010s, with new seasons from 2014 through 2017. Following the final eighth season being added in May 2018, it was eventually removed in May 2020.

Per JustWatch, the show also currently remains on Prime Video, with all eight seasons streaming there. The show did reside on Peacock, the streaming service by NBC Universal, but was removed in July 2023.

This isn’t the only new USA Network show Netflix is picking up. Following the success of Suits dropping on Netflix last Summer, we’ll also be seeing all of Monk added in early February 2024. It continues Netflix’s big splash back into licensing, with many of its competitors changing its tune when it comes to licensing their shows. As you may have heard, Netflix US is getting over a dozen Disney series, and internationally, more NBC Universal shows are due to release in the coming months.

How long will Royal Pains remain on Netflix?

Netflix has only licensed the series currently through to the end of this year. That means unless anything changes, it’ll only be streaming through to December 31st, 2024, with its actual removal scheduled for January 1st, 2025.

With that said, removal dates this far in advance are highly subject to change, and we suspect that if the show performs well, the show’s time on Netflix will be extended.
