This week, we’ve seen 25 new movies and TV shows added to Netflix UK library, including the new British political thriller Hostage, a brand new K-drama taking audiences back to 80s Korea in Aema, and a documentary giving us an in-depth look into the world’s biggest sporting franchise, the Dallas Cowboys.

First of all, here are the week’s top highlights:

Aug 21

Hostage

Episodes: 5
Genre: Drama, Political, Thriller | Runtime: 44 Minutes
Cast: Suranne Jones, Julie Delpy, Corey Mylchreest, Ashley Thomas, Martin McCann

Nobody does political thrillers quite like the British, and Netflix is back at it once more with the brand new series Hostage. It stars Suranne Jones as the British Prime Minister and Julie Delpy as the French president, who are both faced with unimaginable choices when the PM’s husband is kidnapped and the French President is being blackmailed. Despite their fierce political rivalry, the pair must work together to overcome the plot that threatens.

Aug 22

Aema

Episodes: 6
Genre: Drama, Comedy | Runtime: 47-68 Minutes
Cast: Lee Ha Nee, Bang Hyo Rin, Jin Seon Kyu, Jo Hyun Chul, Hyun Bong Sik

South Korean media have seen a meteoric rise over the past decade, but Aema is a throwback to the 1980s, when South Korean cinema was on the rise. Starring the incredible Lee Ha Nee as Jeong Hui Ran, a woman hailed as the best actress of her generation, but thanks to her prima donna attitude, she is dropped from a bold new film and replaced by a fledgling actress with big dreams who moonlights as a nightclub dancer.

Aug 19

America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys

Episodes: 8
Genre: Documentary, Sport | Runtime: 45-68 Minutes
Featuring: Jerry Jones, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin

The 2025 NFL season is almost upon us, and what better way to get back into the football mood than watching a brand new documentary on one of America’s most popular sporting franchises, the Dallas Cowboys.

The documentary takes an in-depth look into the recent history of the Dallas Cowboys, who, after being purchased by Jerry Jones in 1989, would go on to win three Super Bowl titles in the 1990s. To emulate the Cowboys’ success from the 90s, the documentary explores the efforts of Jerry Jones and the franchise’s staff and organisations in making the Cowboys the world’s most valuable sports team.
