As we continue to update our list of titles leaving Netflix in January 2016 a few more have cropped up for removal on January 4th and fans of the Disney catalogue will be disheartened to hear what’s leaving.

As most people will know by now, Netflix purchases their contracts in various different ways. In the case of Disney, they’ll often buy their content in bulk for a select period of time. That means that when the contract is up, the content will expire from the Netflix catalogue or in some cases, like with The West Wing last week, they’ll be renewed and re-added to the Netflix catalogue for an extended period of time.

It’s important to note that the big Disney contract begins in January 2016, bringing all of the theatrical releases exclusively to Netflix a period of time after they’ve left the cinemas. So with an ongoing relationship, it is possible that these titles listed below will be renewed by until then, treat them as they’re going to leave and use the holiday season to binge through all of them before it’s too late.

  • The Aristocats (1970)
  • The Rescuers (1977)
  • The Rescuers Down Under (1990)
  • The Fox and the Hound (1981)
  • The Great Mouse Detective (1986)
  • Dumbo (1941)
  • Pocahontas (1995)
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
  • James and the Giant Peach (1996)

What you should watch before they expire

If time is limited, here are our top 3 picks that you should watch. The Nightmare Before Christmas is our first pick just because of the time of year it is. The Tim Burton directed movie is all about how one character from Halloweentown wishes to break away and discover Christmas Town. It’s beautifully animated and has aged fantastically.

Dumbo is our second pick being one of the earliest movies released on this list. The movie follows an outcast show elephant who is rejected because of his big ears.

Finally, we think you should watch The AristoCats from 1970. In the movie, a bunch of cats are kidnapped from a butler trying to steal their inheritance.
