The fourth season of Outer Banks is fast approaching. Renewed ahead of season 3, production has been ongoing on season 4 since late last year, and as per new Instagram stories from the cast, filming has now officially wrapped up on the upcoming batch of episodes scheduled for the second half of 2024.
Filming has wrapped slightly later than initially planned. We understood that filming would take place (after delays from the strikes) from late last year to May 20th, 2024. Of course, we’re nearly a month from that, and the cast only posted their wrap stories on June 13th.
As first spotted by Netflix Life, the majority of the main cast posted on their Instagram stories over the past 24 hours that filming had wrapped up on the new, long-awaited season of Outer Banks.

Cullen Moss, who plays Deputy Shoupe in the series, posted, “And that’s a wrap on what added up to over a year of shooting the fourth season one of the most fun shows on television. This year was marked by not only the usual incredible cast and coolest, most fun and talented crew, but also a parade of some of my dearest friends lending their immense talent in front of and behind the lens. Thanks for the ride, @obx! This one’s gonna be a doozie!!!”
This season, the team continues its tradition of filming mostly in Charleston, South Carolina. Still, it took a detour to film internationally this season, with these segments filmed in the African country of Morocco in cities like Essaouira and Ouarzazate.

Release plans for the new season haven’t been announced just yet. Given the length of post-production and the fact we’re already halfway through the year, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a split season as we’ve been seeing with a slew of Netflix’s biggest shows over the past year or so.
