Having been in production throughout much of the first half of 2024, the feel-good drama series Sweet Magnolias has wrapped filming on its newest season, season 4. Even though the cameras have stopped rolling and the new season is in the proverbial can, it’s not expected to return to our screens until 2025.
In case you haven’t been following along, Sweet Magnolias was given a fourth season renewal midway through last year following the arrival of season 3. Filming was originally due to begin in January 2024, and although some pre-production did get underway, it wasn’t until February 20th that cameras began rolling.
Posted on social media, the writer account for Sweet Magnolias said on May 31st:
“As of this morning, at 3:33am, Sweet Magnolias Season 4 has wrapped filming. This season is filled with love, laughter, tears, thrills, and margaritas. Congrats to our writers, cast, crew, producers, executives, and everyone who touched this show. We can’t wait to pour it out!”

Jamie Lynn Spears posted last week on social media on May 23rd implying that filming was soon coming to an end, saying:
“Season 4 of #SWEETMAGNOLIAS is wrapping up, and it’s always bittersweet. It’s so exciting to be one step closer to seeing the finished product, and closer to sharing it with all of you, but at the same time knowing how much we are gonna miss seeing all of our Sweet Mags fam everyday, and getting to create this show we love so much together. I could do this forever. Y’all are in for a reallllllll treat with Season 4. Love this show & all the amazing people who make it happen. LOVE ALL OF YOU WHO LOVE THIS SHOW AS MUCH AS WE DO- THANK YALL!!!!!”
Showrunner and executive producer Sheryl Anderson also posted to social media yesterday, celebrating the final day of filming:
“Every day, when I put these on, I feel the responsibility of my job. But I also feel the thrill of working with amazingly talented writers, cast, crew, directors, and executives to bring SWEET MAGNOLIAS to life.
Today, I put these on for the last time in Season 4. There will be laughter and tears as we wrap, and prayers that we will get to do it again. But foremost, there will be gratitude: to God, to the people of Serenity, and to our audience.
Can’t wait for you to see it!!! “
The final reaction post we want to draw your attention to comes from one of the three main stars of the show, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who posted a heartfelt message on Instagram with a picture of her alongside co-leads Brooke Elliott and Heather Headley.
“That’s a wrap on Season 4! I cannot wait for you all to see what we have been up to in Serenity. It’s been a magical season…for reasons I cannot wait to share ☺️. I always get a little emo when we wrap. It’s bitter sweet. There is a huge sense of accomplishment for all the hard work, crazy hours, and time spent bringing this story to life. There is also an overwhelming sense of gratitude. The majority of our crew has been with us since the beginning. We have lived, loved, and laughed through a lot of life together. Even the newest memebers of our family have felt like we have known each other forever and they were that missing piece to making things just right. This was BY FAR my favorite season…not just for the OMG moments (there are many of them!), but because it was a joy to make. And, in many ways, it feels like we are just getting started. There are a million photos I can’t wait to share when Season 4 streams, but until then I will leave ya with one of me and two of my favorite humans. The three of us are just one piece of a world (on the screen and off) that make Serenity and @sweetmagnoliasnetflix what it is and we love getting to share it all with you!”
