Netflix has been the home to Scrubs for several years now but that looks to be coming to an end as all nine seasons are scheduled to be leaving Netflix in May 2017. What’s going on? Is the series actually leaving and can we riot if it does? Let’s take a look.

In case you weren’t already aware of how Netflix acquires its content, let’s give you a quick rundown. Netflix for most of its shows has to acquire the license from the creator of the show, in Scrubs instance, it picks up a streaming license from ABC. This license has a set duration and at the end of said duration, it’s down to both parties to renew the license.

Scrubs is a medical drama comedy and while not the only one streaming on Netflix it’s by far one of the best. It ran for 9 long successful seasons and will be fast approaching 8 years since being canceled.

As of right now, the show is scheduled to leave Netflix on May 2nd, 2017 along with a few Disney channel shows which make sense given that ABC is part of the Disney corporation.

Is Scrubs really leaving?

This isn’t the first time Scrubs has had an expiration date added to Netflix, in fact, this time last year the series was up for renewal. At this point, we think there’s a 50/50 chance given the fact we just had a massive clear out of older titles from the FOX library in April.

Given how old Scrubs is and Netflix’s attention to newer shows and more importantly, its own produced shows it may decide that it’s not worth keeping Scrubs streaming.

We’ll know for certain in the next week or so whether the show will 100% be leaving Netflix thanks to an official list put out by the Netflix media team.

What do you think? Would you like to see Netflix renew the show again and keep it on streaming? Let us know in the comments below.
