The Naked Director is an upcoming Japanese comedy-drama series based on the non-fiction novel Zenra Kantoku Muranishi Toru Den (Naked Director) by Nobuhiro Motohashi. Anime titles aside, The Naked Director is the fourth Japanese Netflix Original, coming after Blazing Transfer Students, Jimmy: The True Story of an Idiot and Switched. Directing duties were given to Masaharu Take (100 Yen Love), while writing was handled by Nobuhiro Motohashi, who wrote the novel on which the series is based.
What is the plot of The Naked Director?
The Naked Director follows the career of the legendary pornographic director Toru ‘Emporer of Porn’ Muranishi. In the 90s, Muranishi also branched into the world of Pinku (soft-core porn), becoming one of the most influential directors of the genre that still exists today. Naturally, such a position doesn’t come without controversy, and the controversial director had more than his fair share as he poured his vision and his art into the world of porn.

When and where did filming take place?
Principal photography took place earlier this year and concluded in June.
Filming took place in Tokyo. More specifically a lot of filming took place in Kabukicho in the Shinjuku ward as it is well known for being the ‘red-light’ district of Tokyo.

There will be ten episodes for the first season.
