Netflix’s The Witcher is reportedly coming to Netflix in December 2019 according to several sources. Here’s what we know about the release date and recap some of the recent news.
The Witcher is set to be one of the biggest releases of fall/winter 2019 on Netflix with only The Crown really being considered on the same level. The series is set on the book and video game series of the same name. We’ve known for some time that the series was scheduled for late 2019 with filming wrapping up just recently confirming said suspicions.
The rumor was first published on May 12th, 2019 by an NSFW blog called Recapped who has been tracking the show because of the various NSFW scenes that are set to be featured. They managed to break the news that was later confirmed of several casting announcements.
Now thanks to a spot from Redanian Intelligence, a blog dedicated to covering all the goings on with The Witcher series on Netflix, we’re now expecting that season 1 of The Witcher will be dropping on Netflix on December 20th, 2019.

Finally back in the UK and, for me at least, that’s officially a wrap on The Witcher. Thanks to everyone on the crew for an amazing, if tough, experience. Now it’s over to the directors, the editors and our fabulous VFX team who all have a great deal of work to do to get it ready for air in December. Good luck everyone, can’t wait to see it. #thewitcher #vfx #netflix #thatsawrap
That release date makes sense given that last year Netflix released its big Black Mirror title the Friday before Christmas and this year, The Witcher will be its flagship Christmas show.
Other fan accounts for the show also seem to indicate a December release date too.

Featuring a massive cast and some big budget set pieces, Netflix is aiming for The Witcher to be one of its new flagship shows potentially rivaling that of Game of Thrones which has now concluded over at HBO.
Of course, Netflix has yet to confirm when The Witcher season 1 is coming to Netflix. The Netflix media site still indicates a 2019 release date although we’ve since heard it’s going to release in Q4 thanks to a Deadline report but added that “Netflix also revealed that The Witcher was coming in the last three months of the year.”.
Rumors of a second season have already begun swirling around with Netflix very happy with the results of the first season.
