Mytho, or Mythomaniac as it’s known on Netflix in international regions, is set to return for season 2 thanks to a renewal from the original broadcaster, Arte. Here’s what we know about season 2 of Mythomaniac and when it’ll likely be on Netflix.

Note: Since this was posted, season 2 landed on Netflix globally on October 29, 2021.

Before we dive into season 2 of the show, let’s just recap how it’s on Netflix, why it’s an Original, and where it aired initially.

Mytho is a French series originally aired on Arte, a TV broadcaster in France. Netflix then acquired the rights to the series, which was released on Netflix in the majority of countries on November 28th, 2019.

The French series is a comedy/drama that stars Marina Hands, Mathieu Demy, Marie Drion, and Jérémy Gillet.

Here’s what you can expect from the series if you’re yet to dive in:

“Burned out and taken for granted, a working mom suspects her partner is cheating, so to win back his attentions, she feigns a medical diagnosis.”

Will there be a season 2 of Mythomaniac?

The good news is that if you loved season 1, more is on the way as Arte renewed the series roughly a month before its debut on Netflix globally.

The announcement said that writing for the second season is well underway and is scheduled to begin filming in January 2020. They speculate that it’ll air in France in Fall 2020, which may mean we may not get season 2 of Mythomaniac until late 2020 or, more likely, early 2021.

Season 2 looks like it was never in doubt, given what the showrunner and director, Fabrice Gobert, said to the French magazine CNC. Here’s what she had to say (translated from French):

“Yes, moreover it was planned practically from the beginning. The idea that it could end at the end of episode 6 was in the air, and I said no: I wanted us to continue to see these people live, to watch them struggle with their problems. I found it exciting. It’s really a long-term series, which has been imagined like that.”
