The Kindergarten Teacher landed on Netflix in both the United States and Canada last week but has yet to appear on other Netflix regions. Here’s a look at why it’s not yet available and when it could be available.

Despite being widely known as a Netflix Original movie, that’s not entirely the case with The Kindergarten Teacher. Multiple outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, have incorrectly attributed the show to be fully under Netflix’s control.

Distribution for Netflix movies has gotten complicated in 2018 with the streaming provider opting to acquire and distribute movies via multiple methods. In this case, Netflix only carries the distribution rights for the United States and Canada. This was first reported in a press release from Netflix.

The film has been getting very positive reviews from critics and has a fantastic cast, so you’re probably wondering why it might not be on Netflix yet if you’re in another region like the United Kingdom or Australia, for example.

We’ve contacted multiple distributors and production companies behind the movie with mixed success. The international distribution, we’re told, is being handled outside of the US and Canada by Protagonist Pictures.

Will The Kindergarten Teacher Be On Netflix In The UK?

In the United Kingdom, the distribution rights have been acquired by ThunderbirdReleasing. In a post on social media on October 15th, they tweeted that the movie will be landing in multiple theatres on October 19th, 2018.

The website for the distributor mentions a cinema release on February 8th.

Will The Kindergarten Teacher Come to Netflix Elsewhere?

Ultimately, that question will be answered by the distributors in each region. We suspect you might find that the movie will be released in limited theatres at the end of this year or early 2019 and later come to Netflix.
