Netflix Acquires Nine Anime Titles for 2024 Including ‘Spy x Family’ and ‘My Hero Academia’

Netflix continues to license big titles, announcing today via social media that it is acquiring a variety of anime for release on the service throughout 2024. This includes both old classics returning to Netflix and anime that has yet to appear. Here’s what we know.

Over the next few days, we’ll get new anime information thick and fast because Netflix has a strong presence in Anime Japan. They’ve already debuted information or assets for many of their upcoming titles, with lots more to come. For example, it confirmed that BEASTARS’ final season will be split into two parts (the first arriving in 2024) and that Kengan Ashura season 2 part 2 will come in August 2024.

For now, given that Netflix Geeked first announced these anime arrivals, we can presume they are specifically for the United States, at the very least. However, we understand that they will be on Netflix in multiple countries, so stay tuned. In the case of some items below, they’re already streaming on Netflix in select regions.

Complete List of Licensed Anime Coming to Netflix in 2024

So, let’s dig into what new licensed anime is on the way shortly!

• Black Clover (Seasons 1-4) – From Pierrot, this anime series comes from Kaelyn Barr and follows two children competing to become the next Emperor Magus
  • Netflix is adding season 1 on April 1st and seasons 2 to 4 at a date to be determined in 2024. 
  • Netflix has streamed Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King exclusively since June 2023.

• GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka – Coming to Netflix on April 1st in multiple countries – A 22-year-old former gang member sets out to become exceptional high school teacher in history in this anime that first broadcast in the last 1990s.
• Haikyu!! – Season 1 is returning to Netflix on April 1st after being removed in November 2021. Season 2 is due out later in 2024.
• Jujutsu Kaisen (Season 1) and the prequel movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 – Coming to Netflix in 2024 TBD – After eating the finger of a demon, a young boy finds himself afflicted with a curse and goes on a journey to find other body parts to exorcise himself.
• ONE PIECE FILM: RED – Coming to Netflix on April 1st – This 2022 anime movie
  • Netflix adapted One Piece into a live-action series and renewed it for another season. Many other anime series and specials for One Piece are also streaming. 

• MOB PSYCHO 100 (Seasons 1-2) – Coming to Netflix on April 15th – From Bones studio, this anime follows a psychic middle school boy trying to live a normal live with superpowers.
  • Netflix adapted this into a 2018 sci-fi series that is still streaming.
• My Hero Academia (Seasons 1-4) and Two Heroes – Coming to Netflix on March 25th – Based on the manga, this series follows a young boy who enrolls in a prestigious hero academy.
  • Netflix is currently adapting this anime into a live-action title.
• Spy X Family (Season 1) – Coming to Netflix in 2024 TBD – From Aniplex, this series follows a spy undercover with a family who also hold secret identities.

• YU YU HAKUSHO (Seasons 3-4)
  • Netflix added seasons 1-2 in the US on March 15th.
  • Netflix has the live-action adaptation exclusively released in December and has yet to be renewed for a second season.
