The month of Halloween soon approaches and Netflix has a wide mix of Netflix Originals planned throughout October 2018. Here’s your early look at what’s coming to Netflix in October 2018.

There’s a few Halloween treats planned for October but there’s also plenty else to look forward to including the return of hits such as Big Mouth and Castlevania.

Big Mouth (Season 2)

Number of episodes: 10
Release Date: October 5th, 2018

Netflix’s dirty mouth yet hilarious comedy is returning for its second season in October. The first season introduced us to the pre-pubescent teens who are literally dealing with demons while progressing to their next step in life.


Private Life (Movie)

Genre: Drama
Director: Tamara Jenkins

Cast: Kathryn Hahn, Paul Giamatti, Siobhan Fallon Hogan
Release Date: October 5th, 2018

This movie first premiered in January 2018 at the Sundance Film Festival so it’s taken a long time to find a home. Critics were generally kind on the drama starring Paul Giamatti. The story is about an author who is trying to conceive a child but having limited luck and it brings her relationship to the brink.


Apostle (Movie)

Genre: Thriller
Director: Gareth Evans
Cast: Dan Stevens, Lucy Boynton, Michael Sheen
Release Date: October 12th

A dark and twisted thriller will fit perfectly into your essential 2018 Halloween viewing on Netflix this year. The big star here is Michael Sheen who stars in a movie all about cults. The story consists of our main character attempting to get his sister out of a dangerous religious cult.

Some theatres will also carry Apostle too.


The Haunting of Hill House (Season 1)

Cast: Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Siegel, Timothy Hutton
Release Date: October 12th, 2018

Netflix has had plenty of horror movie additions over the past few years but in terms of horror series, they’ve been a little light. That changes in October as The Haunting of Hill House arrives on Netflix.

Created by Mike Flanagan is mainly known for his movies such as Oculus, Before I Wake and Ouija: Origin of Evil. The series is set to be a true horror so don’t even think about letting your kids watching and it’s based on the 1959 novel.


22 July (Movie)

Genre: Drama
Director: Paul Greengrass
Cast: Anders Danielsen Lie, Jon Øigarden
Release Date: October 10th

This movie looks to recount the harrowing events of July 22nd 2011 in Norway when a right-wing terrorist murdered 77 people attending a Labour Party Youth Camp. The movie is based on the actual events that took place that day plus also draws inspiration from the book “One of Us”. Not to be missed.


Salt, Fat Acid, Heat (Season 1)

Type: Travel docuseries
Number of episodes: 4 
Release Date: October 19th, 2018

Announced back in July 2018, this docuseries is based on the award-winning book of the same name and much like other Netflix Original cooking shows, travels the world in search of the greatest dishes and ingredients.


Wanderlust (Season 1)

Number of episodes: 6 
Release Date: October 19th, 2018

This isn’t quite a full Netflix Original as it’s a co-production with the BBC from the United Kingdom. The story is about a therapist trying to save her marriage after a cycling accident causes them to reassess their relationship. It’s only a short series and will release everywhere on Netflix outside of the United Kingdom.


Hip-Hop Evolution (Season 2)

Type: Docuseries
Release Date: October 19th

HBO and Netflix don’t tend to ever work together but in this rare instance, they do. HBO Canada and Netflix first released Hip-Hop Evolution last year detailing some of the music genre’s biggest stars and how they came to be. Season 2 is set to continue this fantastic douseries midway through October.


Castlevania (Season 2)

Type: Animated Series
Release Date: October 26th, 2018

If you were left reeling after a notable lack of episodes when season 1 of Castlevania dropped then season 2 may just be the answer. The Netflix series based on the video game series is back for another beautifully animated second season and fear not, season 3 is on the way too!


Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Season 1)

Cast: Kiernan Shipka, Jaz Sinclair, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Lucy Davis
Release Date: October 26th, 2018

Hoping to piggyback on the success of The CW’s adaptation of an Archie comic Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Riverdale has become a hit sensation and there’s every bit of evidence that this series will be the same as it’s striking many of the same notes.

The story is set around Sabrina Spellman who is a half-witch who must go up against evil forces threatening her family.


Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj

Type: Talk Show 
Release Date: Starts from October 28th, 2018

Hasan Minhaj has had a similar rise to his Netflix show as Michelle Wolf whose show recently got cancelled. Can this Daily Show star make the format work on Netflix or is it scheduled to be added to the rising list of failed talk shows on Netflix?
