13 Reasons Why Season 2: Release Date, Trailers & Everything We Know
13 Reasons Why is getting a second season and it’s coming soon to Netflix. Welcome to our comprehensive preview of the next season of the Selena Gomez produced show including everything you need to know including all the trailers, news, gossips, leaks and anything else you should know before diving into the next season.
Season 1 Recap and Reaction
In case you’re uninitiated with the series or just need a quick catchup here’s what you need to know. The 10 episodes that made up the first season told the story of Hannah Baker. Through a series of tapes, she told her story as she saw it to Clay who played the tapes and dealt with what was on them. Hannah suffered multiple traumatic experiences and eventually, as you probably know took her own life.
The first season scored very well with critics but has attracted some criticism since its first release. In particular, a few outlets and studies attributed the show’s success to a rise in searches for suicide among teens.
13 Reasons Why Help Site
The show dives deep into many controversial and sensitive issues. As a result, Netflix decided to set up a site for the show which mainly focuses on giving help to those that also suffer from similar circumstances. The site is titled quite literally to ‘talk to someone’ and it’s a fantastic step from Netflix to raise awareness.
1 Year Anniversary Tributes
On the one year anniversary of the release of the show, Netflix released a series of videos where members of the cast read letters from fans aloud. There were some intense moments in the videos and we implore you to give them a watch.
Season 2 Plot
Unlike some originally thought, we’ll be sticking to the same story as the original season. There’ll be some changes as we’re going three months into the future after the season 1 finale. In addition, Hannah will take less of the main role as it’s been announced that she will no longer be the narrator.
As you know, the tapes have now been listened to but it appears Hannah isn’t quite done with her class mates. In the trailer (see below) one of the notes on the back of a Polaroid is ‘The tapes were just the beginning”. The trailer also hints that other characters secrets will be revealed.
Sadly, the book can no longer provide us with an indication as to where the series is heading next. Much like Orange is the New Black, the show is now completely reliant on the writers for its new material. With any luck, we hope the series doesn’t follow Orange is the New Black which is unrecognisable from its original storyline.

Was 13 Reasons Why Delayed?
Some reports indicated that the show as actually delayed but we can’t find any evidence of this. Given the series is running on an annual format (give or take) it would appear that it’s arriving right on time. There were additional stories about conservative groups pressuring Netflix to halt or cancel the show but that noise has since been silent.
Other Bits of Information
- Filming was actually stopped in October 2017 for four days while wildfires were being taken care of in California where the show is shot. No actors/crew were harmed.
- A special screening of the second season will be held in Los Angeles from March 30th to April 1st.
