With the announcement of a new spin-off series for Gossip Girl, we could soon see The CW show which streams on Netflix in its entirety soon removed to make its way over to HBO Max. Here’s what we know.

Gossip Girl has been streaming on Netflix for quite some time. Six seasons consisting of 121 episodes are currently on Netflix.

Although Gossip Girl may leave other regions, this article specifically focuses on Gossip Girl in the United States.

The teen drama from The CW that is about privileged upper-class kids living in New York.

When will Gossip Girl leave Netflix?

As you may have heard Warner Media is lining up a rebooted series of Gossip Girl earmarked for its new streaming service HBO Max due out in 2020.

The reboot is set to consist of 10 episodes and will see the show’s creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage returning to produce the series. It’s not known who’s starring or more importantly who are returning. Kristen Bell has teased she may or may not be returning.

The show may be leaving Netflix as soon as October 2019. The show’s contract currently renews every October on the 8th.

It’s important to note the show notably didn’t feature in the HBO Max sizzle reel trailer. Given most shows from The CW only stay on Netflix several years after the show concludes, it would make sense that Gossip Girl could be departing shortly.

The series would depart a year after another show from The CW show called 90210 departed.

Will the Gossip Girl reboot come to Netflix?

As for whether the reboot will find its way onto Netflix, it seems unlikely, particularly in the United States. Other regions may be able to score exclusive distribution rights as it has done with titles like Gossip Girl.

Gossip Girl isn’t the only show on Netflix potentially facing removal. There’s quite a few that we’ve documented in our list here.
