The Returned – Picture from A&E

Netflix in the United States will soon be losing the first and only season of A&E’s series, The Returned. The series that adapted the French equivalent  Les Revenants was short lived but here’s why you should check it out anyway before it leaves or better yet, check out the French original.

In case you haven’t seen the show just yet, here’s a quick pitch to see if it’s for you. The show consists of 10 episodes and is a mystery thriller. A daughter who was run over four years prior to returns from the dead unharmed. In fact, a whole group of people are returning from the dead.

When will The Returned leave Netflix?

As you probably know by now, Netflix regularly recycles its library whether that be getting new content or removing some older titles. As of right now, the series is due to leave Netflix on March 9th, 2019 which is exactly four years since the series first aired on A&E.

The French version is not currently due to leave Netflix.

The series is also due to leave alongside quite a few other titles in March 2019 including the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast.

Netflix UK is also no longer streaming The Returned

The Returned left Netflix UK last year and that’s even with the show being classed as a Netflix Original. Very rarely do you get shows leaving Netflix that are classed as an Original.

What’s similar to The Returned on Netflix?

The good news is that Netflix quickly picked up another series that’s very similar although it’s from Australia.

Glitch is now up to its second season on Netflix with the third season confirmed for 2019.

Here are some of the other titles that Netflix recommends:

  • Bates Motel
  • Between
  • Dark
  • The Sinner
  • The Forest
  • Black Mirror

Are you going to miss The Returned once it leaves? Do you wish Netflix could’ve picked up the show?
