It was one of the first Spanish movies to deal with transgender and gender identity issues.
More than 50 years later, a new version of My Dearest Señorita began shooting last February in Pamplona and is understood to have also been shot in Madrid. This version, billed as a loose adaptation, is being written by trans author Alana Portero, who enjoyed international success with her book La Mala Costumbre, and is the very first onscreen appearance of intersex actress Elisabeth Martinez. Director Fernando Gonzalez Molina explains that the project is an opportunity to address the reality and lives of intersex people, as well as give more opportunities to LGBTQ+ people behind the camera and on screen.
