Hold the Dark (2018)

Jeffrey Wright is mostly known for his current role on HBO’s Westworld but he’s taken time out of his busy schedule to appear in this foreign Netflix Original movie coming in September. Wright’s character is hired as an investigative journalist to help a woman find out what happened to her three children suspected of being killed by wolves. The latest in Netflix’s Original horror’s excuse the pun but the film looks very chilling and tense, I don’t know what it is about Alaska but they always seem to hide Monsters or evil serial killers!

The 3rd Eye

Cast: Jessica Mila. Bianca Hello, Citra Prima, Denny Sumargo, Anita Hara
Release Date: September 28th

The film in its Native tongue is called Mata Batin which translates too as Inner Eyes or the 3rd Eye in English, listed as a Netflix Original the film actually debuted in Jakarta, Indonesia back in November of 2017 and after some length of time has finally made its way over to Netflix. The premise of the film is as follows; Alia decides to leave Bangkok and return to Jakarta once after her parents died. She and Abel, her teenage sister, moved into their childhood home away from the city but all is not what it seems.

The movie was a big hit with its audience in Indonesia, within the first few days saw over 130,000 audience members seeing the movie and only after 2 weeks over 1,000,000 people had seen the film, now these may seem like small numbers considering the number of people there is in Indonesia but for Indonesian cinema that is a massive achievement.

Super Monsters Save Halloween

Now don’t let the child-friendly looking wrapper fool you, this is actually the scar-.. I couldn’t even finish typing that sentence without chuckling to myself. But yes you are correct and 10 points for observation this is not, in fact, a horror but obviously a movie your children can enjoy with the run-up to Halloween!

There isn’t a trailer yet, but the film will follow the adventures of the Super Monsters as they go on an adventure to save Halloween.

The Haunting of Hill House

As her Sixteenth birthday gets closer and closer she soon has to make the choice of becoming a full Witch or to pursue a normal life with her Boyfriend Harvey. Unaware of the evil intentions afoot against her and her family soon Sabrina will have to face her biggest challenge yet.

These next two titles haven’t been confirmed for 2018 and in actual fact, we’re not expecting them to land until 2019 at the earliest. The reason for these mentions? Because they’re going to be incredible horror shows coming to Netflix.

10 After Midnight

Release Date: Unknown

We’re not expecting this to actually arrive in 2018 but we thought it’d be a good idea to whet your appetite for this upcoming anthology horror series from Guillermo del Toro. The Oscar-winning director has been busy over the past few years has had a large involvement in Netflix’s own Trollhunters. 10 After Midnight has been described as an amped up cross between Black Mirror and American Horror Story. If that hasn’t sold you, then we don’t know what will.

A few more updates

  • Stranger Things season 2 came to Netflix last year in Halloween but won’t in 2018 as season 3 isn’t expected until summer 2019.
  • Scream is renewed for season 3 but hasn’t had its release announcement just yet.
