Easy, Netflix’s romantic anthology series is returning for a third and final season in 2019. The series created by Joe Swanberg is well regarded and we’ve got everything you need to know about season 3 of Easy.

Created by Indie-movie extraordinaire Joe Swanberg, Easy is an anthology series that looks at sex and relationships. Netflix has had a string of hits using the anthology format with Black Mirror being the most prolific.

Season 1 landed on Netflix in September 2016 and season 2 released in December 2017.

How was season 2 received?

Because of the nature of the anthology format, each episode ranked on its own scale. The definite highlights of the series the critics agreed on were episodes 2, 3 and 6. In particular, episode 6 entitled Prodigal Daughter is the highest rated episode so far.

Interest in the show was somewhat lower for the second season as seen here in the Google Trends analysis for Easy on Netflix.

Google Trends also suggests the show is most popular in Canada, Ireland, the United States and Australia.

Season 3 Renewal Status

Official Renewal Status: Renewed!

The news came from the Hollywood Reporter who confirmed that the series would be returning for a third season. It was a late confirmation since Netflix had been streaming season 2 for multiple months. This could suggest that production is a bit behind and that we won’t be seeing new episodes in 2018.

Why will season 3 be the last? Was it cancelled?

The show hasn’t been cancelled as such, rather Netflix and Joe Swanberg have just said they’ll be concluding the show after season 3.

Joe was keen to point at that despite having involvement in all episodes, he isn’t the sole creative force of the show. Speaking to IndieWire, Joe said despite his name being the sole credit, he uses the cast and crew to create a collaborative environment. Why aren’t they listed as writers? It’s apparently all to do with the writers’ guild and it’s easier to have them uncredited.

Once again, however, Joe Swanberg will likely be the driving force behind season 3 as the show is his baby.

Who’s starring in season 3?

As you know, the series adopts new actors and actresses for each new episode. Season 2 saw some fantastic comedy and drama actors and actresses appear including the likes of Aubrey Plaza, Michael Chernus, Marc Maron, Judy Greer and many more.

With the exception of a few extras that have been added to season 3’s IMDb episode guides, we don’t yet know of any of the main actors cast for season 3 of Easy.

How many episodes will be in season 3?

The total number of episodes coming in season 3 has yet to be announced but given the previous two seasons consisted of 8 episodes a piece, we’re expecting season 3 to follow this trend.

When will season 3 be on Netflix?

At the moment, there’s been no announcement of when season 3 will land on Netflix. TV Series Finale states that the series is expected in 2019 and we’d expect it to arrive in early-to-mid 2019. There’s been rumors that the series has been filming since June 2019 just a couple of months before the series was renewed in August.
