It’s time to look at all the of new movies and new TV series coming to Netflix in the US in April 2018. This month’s highlights include Despicable Me 3, Scarface, Lost in Space, Joel McHale, and The Iron Giant.

Once again, the list below is mostly painted red as its absolutely dominated by new Netflix Originals. With that said, we’ve got a massive movie dump on the first of the month plus exclusives from both The CW and Dreamworks.

New Release Highlights

New Movies

Dreamworks first big movie release of 2018 comes in April in the form of the latest entry in Despicable Me 3. The minions and the evil scientist are back for more adventures with Steve Carrell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker and Miranda Cosgrove on the credits list.

One of Brad Bird’s best hits that didn’t come under the Disney banner will be arriving in April with 1999’s The Iron Giant. The hand-drawn animated movie will almost certainly pull on your heart strings if you’ve not seen it already. Plenty of movies returning to Netflix too with Bad Boys, Along Came Polly and Friday Night Lights all making reappearances on the first of April.

Finally, Al Pacino’s Scarface, one of the most influential movies of all time will be winding its way onto Netflix on April 1st.

New TV Series

The third CW release of the year is expected towards the end of the month. Jane the Virgin, or Jane the non-Virgin as it should now be called will be returning for its fourth season at the end of April.

The first season of Univision’s Spanish spoken drama La Piloto arrives on April 2nd where a young pilot gets involved with smuggling drugs across the border. Also Call the Midwife is getting its Christmas special added to Netflix while we’re still waiting for the next season to arrive.

New Originals

Mostly unknown or forgotten Netflix Originals make up the majority of next months lineup but don’t let that turn you away. One of the best new titles this year has been Bank Heist which is quickly getting a second part added this month. After several years of waiting, we’re finally getting season 2 of 3%. Perhaps the biggest title this month is the Netflix reboot of Lost in Space.

We’ve got an extended preview of the Netflix Originals coming in April 2018.
