Since the franchises’ inception in 2012 with the release of Arrow, we’ve seen since the release of five more series into the Arrowverse. The CW superhero dramas have been some of the most popular, and the most binged series on Netflix from the past few years. With a big selection of titles to choose from and even more Arrowverse series in development, fans will be wondering what Arrowverse titles they can look forward to coming to Netflix in 2020.

This has been the biggest year on record for the Arrowverse. After almost 8 years the series is now going through a transition period with Arrow coming to an end and the arrival of Batwoman. Not to mention this year’s annual crossover is the Arrowverse’s biggest yet, as it takes on one of the most famous comic-book storylines of all time Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Arrow (Season 8)

Netflix Release Date: February 2020 (Potentially pushed back to May/June)

After 8 turbulent seasons, the first of the Arrowverse franchise, Arrow, is coming to an end. To conclude the story of Green Arrow, the final season has received dramatically fewer episodes, with a total of ten. The final two episodes will air in January, meaning we could see Arrow arrive on Netflix far earlier than previous seasons. The deal arranged between Netflix and The CW would mean that Arrow should be arriving on Netflix two weeks after airing the finale, but thanks to the other Arrowverse series, this could be delayed.

In the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, the Green Arrow has been pivotal to the story, and with each part split amongst the various Arrowverse shows, this could be why Arrow’s Netflix release date could be pushed back to May or June. Part 4 of the crossover belongs to Arrow, so you would need to watch episodes of Supergirl, Batwoman, and The Flash first, but seeing as two of the three aren’t available till the Summer and Batwoman isn’t on Netflix, it has become a little more complicated to follow if you only watch the Arrowverse on Netflix.

Black Lightning (Season 3)

Netflix Release Date: Spring or Fall 2019

A Netflix Original outside of the US, but airing on The CW on Monday nights, Black Lightning has felt like the outcast of the Arrowverse since its debut. Despite being a CW series, Black Lightning hasn’t followed a release schedule similar to the other Arrowverse series, and instead would usually arrive on Netflix before the arrival of the latest season. As Netflix and The CW haven’t clarified Black Lightning’s release this could mean we could see the electrical superhero arrive in March or April 2020. If the series follows its previous release pattern, fans will be waiting until the Fall of 2020.

Legends of Tomorrow (Season 5)

Netflix Release Date: May/June 2020

Legends of Tomorrow has a fewer number of episodes compared to their other Arrowverse counterparts, and would typically take longer breaks between episodes. This year the series has opted to begin in January, which is likely due to the arrival of Batwoman. Legends previously aired on Monday nights, with Supergirl, but the latter has since moved to Sunday nights and the former will air on Tuesdays with The Flash.

The official premiere of Legends of Tomorrow airs on January 21st, 2020, add the remaining fourteen weeks and this would take you into April. With an expected break to take place, which could take up to a month, will likely see the series finale aired at the start of May. This means depending on when the finale airs, will dictate whether Legends will be arriving in late May or early June.

The Flash (Season6)

Netflix Release Date: May/June 2020

We’re six seasons into The Flash, and it looks like the Scarlett Speedster isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Like the other scheduled CW series, The Flash, in previous years, has arrived in May or June, a couple of weeks after its season finale has been broadcast. With the series following a normal schedule of 22 episodes, we can expect to see the finale air in May 2020 and should arrive on Netflix weeks later. If the finale is to air in the latter half of May, expect a June release date.

Supergirl (Season 5)

Release Date: May/June 2020

Just like The Flash, Supergirl will also have a total of 22 episodes for her fifth season. In previous years there has only been one instance that Supergirl has arrived later than usual, and that was when the series finale wasn’t aired until June 18th, 2018. The third season then soon arrived on Netflix almost a week later. We aren’t expecting to see a delayed finale this season, which means it should air in May like the other CW shows. Expect to see Supergirl arrive a couple of weeks later in late May or early June.

Will Stargirl be coming to Netflix in 2020?

Despite the fact that the character Stargirl has already appeared in Legends of Tomorrow, the superhero will be receiving her own series, which will be debuting in the second quarter of 2020. Even though the series is being produced by The CW, Stargirl will not be making her way to Netflix in 2020. This is because of the contract between The CW and Netflix has come to an end, which is why the other Arrowverse series Batwoman will not be coming to Netflix either.

Stargirl’s home will be on DC’s own streaming service DC Universe. Episodes of Stargirl will still be broadcast by The CW, but not until the following day when the latest episode has been broadcast on DC Universe. It has been confirmed that the character of Stargirl will be reintroduced during the Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline.

What about Batwoman?

Batwoman has been slated to be released on the upcoming streaming service HBO Max, but the character does feature in the Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline and has her own episode for the crossover. Unfortunately, she won’t be making her way to Netflix anytime soon.
